weird sound problem

like the subject, i have a weird sound problem. whenever some one messages me in xfire, aim, or msn, i cant hear it. Also, i cant hear any sound on videos online, but whenever i play music or whenever i play any game it sounds fine

Go to Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices.
Then on the Volume Tab, click the Device Volume->Advanced button.
Then, when the volume settings dialog appears, select Options->Properties and ensure all the checkboxes below where it says "Show the following volume controls" are checked.
OK that.

Now take a screenshot and post it here...

Could you make it like readable? Basically, what I need to know is which, if any of the Mute checkboxes are checked?

Widescreens suck... So does your theme? what kind of scrub would use those? and buy a widescreen monitor? Explain please.
