For my mates new system avid AMD fan and although I hear about how intel is better that one seems to look good to me or am I missing something?

Fuck that get this.

BTW, i used to be one of the AMD mentalists, C2Ds are simply shit loads better (for now anyway).

depends on how much you want to spend and what you're using it for.  E6600 is a good chip but they only get better from there, try a quad core.

lol thats what my bro says but isnt 3ghz faster than 2.4 :S?  anyone want to as simply as possible state to me why the intel is better?  Read something about this 65nm vs 90nm making the intel better but dont AMD now ship 65nm 6000s?

So, you can get a quad core for that price can you? lol jus fukin with ya, but I dont think a 300% price hike is going to do him any favours.

more efficient architecture. With each clock cycle a C2D chip can do more calculations than an AMD counterpart. therefore you don't need a high speed. Also the C2Ds easily overclock to 3 GHz

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

OK basically, buy that and a good cooling system. It'll clock to at least 3.5GHz, also it out-performs the AMD at 2.4Ghz anyway, I'll let one of the tech gurus like kmarion go into the ins and outs of it all as I'm a) lazy and b) shit at explaining things lol.

By good cooling I mean at a minimum a Zalman CNP-9700 and preferrably a thermalright ultra-120 and a good fan 120mm for it. (or even better wait til they release the IFX-14 and stick that on it with a 140mm fan )

Whens that?  I'll tell you the spec he had in mind

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz (£123.36)
Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2)
Enermax Noisetaker 600W
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4

I said that 320mb/640mb 8800gts would be better but again with conflicting views he says the ati card is quikcer?  N tht comes to about £700 me thinks and he wants it like yesterday lol or atleast in the next week.

gratza (karma for u guys for helping also!)

dont go with AMD at the moment, you can get more for less with Intel

And look at patriot ram, I don't know price differences and everything over there, but a 2Gb package normally priced at $214 is now down to $133 (for ddr2 800mhz ram).  (it's the LLK version running at 2.2v is you want to check)

Ok well a mobo is going to cost you more than that one, I can't think of a C2D mobo worth buying for less than 125 but it's well worth it.

The x1950 has a higher clock speed and wotnot but again, speed != win. An 8800 will eat it alive, I know, I have an x1950 Pro and compared it side by side to an 8800 (GTX not GTS tho, Methinks the GTS will still be way better simply for all the tech thats in it the ATi simply doesn't have).

EDIT: I have no idea when the IFX-14 is due out, heres a linky to it on thermalrights site so you can have a looksee http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main … _ifx14.htm
