I have onboard sound, and I get some crackling with both headphones and 5:1 Speakers.

So, I want to try a new Driver for it, see if it helps. My motherboard is a Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi-AP Edition running on Windows XP Media Edition

Can anyone recommend a good sound Driver, the one I currently have is called "SoundMax" and it blows.

If you need any more info about my computer, just let me know.

Many people experience a crackling noise with their Asus P5B Deluxe sound configuration, from what I have read. Most of them solve thee problem by simply buying a new sound card ('cause other drivers didn't work better for them)!

Ya, Thats what I heard too.

I just want to try it out myself see if its any better before I blow some money on a Sound Card.

I was originally going to get one when I got my computer, but I didn't have the money at the time, now I do though.

Now well, what keeps you from getting one then? Even I am going to get one the next days (together with a Sennheiser headset, though )

$100 Canadian, I can handle that.

Whats the main difference between the Music and the Gamer though?

I have a pretty good headset that will benefit from the new sound card already, and 5:1 Speakers.

The Music edition has golden connectors. Other than that, they use the same audio processor (which is some incredible piece!) so I can't see a difference there. Probably the Music edition has some more functions concerning audio encoding/decoding and such things while the Gamer edition supports 3D-sound better. Or it's all just a marketing gag - who knows
