Here's the deal folks: I'm stuck with my AM2 mobo and my (shitty) 3800+X2.

I wanted to buy the 5200 (that I could get for 250 cdn), but saw the 6000 for 320 (still cdn).

So, which one should I go for?

Btw, I know C2D is better, I just don't wanna invest that much for a processor+mobo.

i would go for the c2d proc +mobo
but as you want AMD,i would choose the 5200 and save some money.
there really is no need for the 6000 as 5200 will do just about anything you need to....
goood luck

If anything, I'd go for the 5000+ since it's way cheaper than the 5200+ and the only difference is cache size...

FX-62 = socket F

That would mean a change of mobo anyway.

Meh, I still don't really know what I'm gonna do...

Mmm, always thought it was on another socket... Anyway, it's not available where I live for some reason...

I just upgrades my PC from a AMD 64 3000+ to the AMD 64 X2 5200+.  In the process, the RAM, MB, and Video card where update too.  Being that you have an AM2 socket MB, I would get the 5200.  The PC now boots much faster and my games run much smoother now.  I like the fact the chip has 2 1 MB of cache as opposed to 2 512 of cache.

I found my AMD 64 X2 5200+ for $221.00 ($205.00 + tax) using www.pricegrabber.com.  One suggestion if you go with either the  5200 or 6000, get an after-market CPU fan.  The stock AMD CPU fans are joke.  I purchased a  Thermaltake A4022 TR2-R1 AMD CPU Cooler Retail CPU fan for $23.00.
