I have just bought a new XFX Ge Force 7600GT graphics card and new Hiper HPU-4M530-PK PSU.

The PSU is in fine, but nothing seems to be coming out the back of the card.  When I connect it and then start it up the monitor tells me to check the signal cable and that is all I see.  So is nothing coming from the card?  Does that mean it is faulty, or should I do something else?

The installation instructions say plug it in and boot it up, and then windows should start trying to configure it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

has you motherboard got onboard video? if so you need to disable it in the bios first

So... you did plug your monitor into the back of it, right?

Thanks for your replies, and um yes it is all ok now.  I had changed my PSU, and being a nervous novice had labelled all the leads when I disconnected the original - it took me a while to spot that the new card needed a power input that the old one didn't.  Felt a bit dumb afterwards, but am very happy with the new quality of graphics.

Signal cable error? Shouldn't that mean your monitor isn't plugged in correctly?

That's your monitor telling you it's not receiving a signal from the computer - that can be for any number of reasons.

If you are using VGA (blue end) cord that may be the issue - I forget what the newer digital (white end) cable is called but your card has a plug for it. Try using the white one.
Also check the signals.

Very lame I know, but worth a try.
