SVD is good in the right hands. But then again you could probably say that about almost anything.
I like the SVD in BF2, but for BF2 I really prefer the bolt actions. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R however the SVD is wicked bad, the only trouble is finding ammunition for the bastard.

The SVD is not a sniper rifle for everyone and it's sure not for every situation (M24 v. SVD at 200m? No thank you). I used to hate it myself, but having forced myself to use it a bit more recently (see last vid for some SVD work) I've gotten better with it so I don't think it's nearly as crappy as I used to.jimbo1000 wrote:
Who thinks the SVD is a really crap weapon the SVD is for Learner snipers!
There's no denying that the scope isn't great and this is the thing that gives lots of us trouble. Not only do most people find the chevron hard as it is (compared to a crosshair) it's also off-centre just a bit. But of course you can get used to this with practice. Also, like with the Type 88, the magnification is lower; so compared to the three bolt-actions you definitely feel like you're not able to reach out as far and take on the enemy from safer distance. You can get used to this too, although you're never going to be able to compete on an equal footing with the M95, M24 and L96A1 in all ways... long-range shooting in particular, but also the much higher damage for the three bolt-actions gives them a key advantage too.

Now back on topic SVD owns
B.O.T.
SVD for the City , M24 for the Country sniping
I only started using svd thisweek. I have expert sniper already but I'm surprised at how much svd does in fact kick ass. Awesome weapon.
type 88 is better....

SVD is pretty good IMHO since it's a 1 shot kill to the head, and you dont zoom out after firing although its lack of ability for long range shots is it's only downside.
type 88>M24>SVD
the svd and type 88 pretty much are the same thing except for skin and sights. personally all i say is the svd/type are kick ass because a real sniper always goes for a head shot and thus they will always get 1 hit kill with the svd. the m24 is good for getting "kill assist" ...at least for me it is.frankyman_88 wrote:

That's good. I really liked your other vids. Make sure you I know when it comes out would you?aLi3nZ wrote:
I will be making a svd and l85 frag vid, for all you nubs like you that think they are n00b weapons. These guns take more skill then most other guns in the game, but once you have learned to control them you can pwn. Both of these guns pwn at long range and cqc.
That's the way I use it too. Anyway, it is indeed an advantage that you can kill someone by just shooting his legs within parts of a second.-=]NS[=-Eagle wrote:
Not me, I like the SVD. Most people just fire away with it and kill people in multiple shots. I always aim for the head. The cool thing about the SVD is if you miss the head, there is less recoil and less time before you can shoot again so you can realign your shot faster.
SVD is a hardcore weapon.....
Hehehehe, you pwned me with itJET_G raidensen wrote:

I'd rather see a million more noobs with SVD's than the millions of snipers who throw nades at their feet while bunnyhopping around, then failing that throw claymores at their feet and just run away, despite the fact I'm just chasing them with shock paddles.
The very first time I ever played BF2 I started as a MEC sniper and sucked ass (probably cos I wasn't used to the game) so I blamed it on the SVD and never used it again.
The other day I was engineer on an infantry only map, so i stole a dead sniper's kit and he had an SVD. I totally pwned with it! They're sweet.
So accurate, and you don't have to zoom out between shots. Sadly on snap-shots you tend not to kill, but you will pwn the round for Kill Assists!

SVD=fast multipile kills, other sniper rifles=bolt action your dead
The point of being a sniper is NOT to make headshots, even if every self-declared expert sniper says so. It is to kill the enemy, simple as that. If you can do headshots, fine, if you can't, no big problem either. If you can put 3 or 4 bullets in your enemy before he even realized where you are, there is no need for a headshot. It doesn't make a difference how the enemy dies or if he calls you a learner or noobo, the important part is that he dies and not you.
The SVD has, in advantage to the bolt actions, a lot of stopping power. You can mow down small squads if needed. And you can get this cursed medic who usually revives your bolt-action victims within seconds. You can do suppressive fire, which is something 3 out of 4 enemy snipers cant deal with. You can fight at any distance from 5m to 300m. You can be a hidden sniper or you can storm with your squad as a 'close-combat-sniper' (which is something i prefer). Simply speaking: The SVD is apart from the eryx the most versatile weapon on the field.
You are right about one thing. The SVD is a learner weapon. Learn to use it properly before judging.

I use it mainly in Warlord, and like all the true snipers said, it rocks!coldplay wrote:

I go for headshots, but failing that, body shots to take them down...bolt-action and they'd be gone!
Bolt-action is for those that camp runways and always stay FAR away from the action...
When you have the SVD, theres no need to nade,clay..run!...i took out 4 guys in close quarters once in Warlord..
I agree super, i took out 4- 5 guys on karkand hiding in a corner, when they rushed me because they saw that I was a sniper ,they tried to knife me,pop pop pop=5 shots to the chest, there dead

SVD = Hacker accusations from n00bs = Win
And the sound. The diff. scope on the Type 88 is a big advantage, so even though they're the same gun in terms of the bullet physics there's a big difference when using them (easier accurate aim, less occlusion of small targets).agent146 wrote:

"Real snipers" kill the enemy using their entire kit to the best of their ability (same as with "real [insert kit name]"). Really good shots will nail headshots most of the time they go for one; different thing entirely.agent146 wrote:
