I'm just having some problems with my connection on BF2...well, I've got a cable modem, and I connect through a router. I turn off my firewall, but at random intervals of time my ping shoots up to 200-300 and I skip around the server. I haven't had this happen in any other game, and it's only happening to BF2 and 2142. Not me or anyone in the house is torrenting, so I don't know why my connection is doing this, I usually have low pings/
firstly I'd make sure you have a secure WEP code in place and nobody is stealing wireless from you, other than that it's probably your ISP's problem.
Some say turn off Windows Zero Configuration in Services.
Edit: checked what the hell it was called

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
i use a wireless connection and i get that sometimes. its never too bad to need to worry though. if it gets bad i just reset the router. (unplug it from the wall and plug it back in)
if its a wired connection, then i dont know. just make sure no other programs are running like aim or something.

Sounds to me like something is connecting in the back ground while you play, maybe an update.
