Hello to everyone. /\ Title says all. I'm here (on the computer of my parents) with a windows 98. Reason for this post? My XP is fucked up. Not even xfire works anymore. I don't know what happend. I think microsoft fucked it with "automatic updates". Anyways, I will bring my PC to somebody who can help me. I'm not a PC freak but I know, he has to reinstall Windows XP. I will loose all my own things, because I can't even save them. That's called "pwned". This bullshit happend now more than 2 times to me, everything I have got should work (list is down). Now I'm thinking about gettin' Vista. I have'nt seen it be4 on a computer but I don't care anymore. Should I get it?

Um, if you know that your Xfire doesn't work then surely you can get onto your desktop. This tells me that explorer.exe is working fine and that you are able yo copy all of your files onto a network folder of a memory stick.

Something like AOL. I just deleted the cookies into the internet options. Now nothing works. I can't even see my own picturs. It's fucked up. It's XP. Should I get vista now? I need to know it, going soon.

EDIT/ doesn't vista make gameplay worse by 10% or something like tht?

Never had a problem with XP.

Wait 'til they shake out Vista a bit more to see how it beds down. Few more patches, etc. Vista really chews the resources too. Real efficient piece of Microsoft coding ....

Bite the bullet and find someone local to help you. Your files aren't gone, and not booting now doesn't even mean you'll have to reload anyway. I've never had a problem backing up someone's files unless there is a HDD failure. The majority of the time, it's just REALLY full of spyware and such and just needs someone to go through the hoops to clean it all out.

Have you tried booting in fail safe mode?

If that works try the system restore feature and see if that helps.
