In response to the thread atm about the best current football player, here's my version

My choice would have to be either Beckenbauer (German) or Best (Irish)

Choose yours!

Oliver Khan.
I don't know enough about Soccer to put him in the running for best, but he's my favourite.

Hugh question. I'd go for Darrel Baldock because he won us the flag back in 66 with his triumphant effort, but I'm biased .

As far as general play goes Darrel Baldock, Ian Stewart, Robert Harvey, Dick Reynolds.

Goal kickers would be John Coleman, Tony Lockett and Jason Dunstall.

George Best
I agree.  Because Northern Ireland were not big on the world stage at the time people don't realise just how good George Best actually was.  He was playing before my time but it hasn't stopped me researching him and realising how phenomenal he really was.

Fantastic player.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

I'm not a soccer expert but wasn't Pele supposed to be the greatest of all time?

Not because he's Argentine, but he is the best.  I'm a River Plate fan so I don't like him very much.
