Hahaha... Trust a thread about Aussies to be this good a laugh. In D&ST too.

Guns are common in Australia. Especially, ESPECIALLY in WA, the NT and QLD (two are states, one is a territory... has to do with our governance system and the federation stuff; differing gun laws). Don't anybody ever make that mistake again. Difference is, here we don't carry pistols around for personal defence.

Swords too, are common. It's relatively easy to get weapons and permits for them here in the NT. Especially if you have a black belt in a martial art.

Oh, and I_SUCK... Come on the BF2S:AU server this Saturday night at about 6pm if you aren't busy. Have a few rounds with the AU crew.

Not in Victoria they aren't.  The biggest mistake people make is forgetting that Australia, like China, has a big difference between it's rural communities and it's urban ones, and the laws vary greatly.  It's vary hard to obtain any firearm in an urban environment.

Nah, it's only the club fight pussies who use swords.  Bar fights are fought with fists or anything handy.

Someone needs to find the Chaser clip where they're selling fake weapons.

Yeah... Define rural though...

I know a guy who lives 50km out of Perth in a rural community. He has the largest armoury I've ever seen bar none, including Johnnykill's post on this site.

Perth is practically a rural community itself.

Hahaha.

No.

It's the fact that Victoria, NSW, Tasmania and SA all have very strict laws regarding guns. WA, QLD, the NT and the ACT (I think) shall from now on be known collectively as the redneck regions of Oz. Haha.

I don't think NT has any lesser gun control laws than the rest of the country - No concealable weapons allowed, restrictions are so tough that most don't bother.

Pistols allowed but must be stored in a Police approved (& inspected) safe or at the gun club (membership of which is also compulsory).

Air rifles must be registered and the appropriate licence held - also must be stored in a approved gun safe.

even the lowly shanghai (catapult) is banned in the NT.

I thought the gun laws were a direct result from that massacre in Tasmania. 35 something people died when that crazy guy with an Assualt rifle went rampaging around Port Arthur.

I dont think thats an overreaction based on the possibility of death...

It's about cost benefit analysis.  Car accidents can cause death, but provide society with great benefit.  Guns are designed to cause death but...........ah...............um.....................someone help me out here?

For farmers, no.  For everyone else, yes, it is.
