With my own thinking?  I suppose thinking that all lives are equal is a bit preposterous in this day and age.

I was just pointing out a major flaw in American media/society.

I don't think I was stepping out of line or "too ignorant" when I said that the media had a fucking hay day with this VT story to the point where I actually stopped watching the news for a couple days because it was all Matt  Lauer and his cronies sitting in the middle of the campus talking about what a huge tragedy it was.  And there's no question.. it was an absolutely horrible thing and I really feel for the friends and parents of those 32 killed; but ffs it kinda gets your blood pumping when you realize that hundreds of thousands of people are dying and getting much less coverage than 32.

And just for the point of perspective take a look at this.

Darfur:
(it'll be the next couple of posts "Posts cannot be longer that 65535 characters (64 KB).")
What has Darfur to do with VT? Nothing.

I think ATG just proved your point. Poor guy is so egocentric he takes every post as an insult to himself or his beloved redwhite&blue and can't see anything else.
My point is that people should not capitalize on a sad story for political gain, especially gain that is not even relating to the same country the crime happened in,

and that, you have no point whatsoever.

...No one seems to get this. I'll tell you what, when you comfort a crying friend who just lost a loved one, only to find some bastard take something meant to inspire and twist it for fucking politcal purposes, then I'll let you lecture me on "ignorance." People take so much time bleeding your hearts over something you don't have the power to stop, yet completely ignore the pain you can heal.
It did inspire us.  That's what you fail to understand.  Watch the video, and realize that in the last 15 seconds the footage's sound is turned probably as low as it can go.  The chanting was deafening.  Like I said before, she succeeded in her objective.  I admit that when I heard her recite the middle of her poem I was like, "what the hell is this?", but that doesn't change the fact that it DID make us all feel better.

Seriously though, if you don't understand what Darfur and elephants and such have in common with what happened, read the poem again... "Nobody deserves a tragedy."  and "We do not understand this tragedy. We know we did nothing to deserve it,...".  We're not the only one's going through difficult times, and those who are with us are surviving.  We will get through our difficulties just like they have, just like they are, just like they will. This is what she is saying, not "I'm a pinko commie who likes to make political statements wherever possible."   And to think, I thought I'd never need to use anything from my 12th grade english class ever again :p

If you still don't get it, email her!  Her email address can be found by searching for her using VT People a.k.a. Hokie Stalker.

Dude, I get it. I actually was at reading of her stuff a few days after the shooting at my university. What I don't get it why people have to use everything for political gain. Calling something out for pushing a "liberal agenda," when it is just meant to help heal, is in my opinion, sickening.

Okay, I agree, but Nikki Giovani wasn't pushing any agenda.  That's where I disagree with you.

I never said she was pushing an agenda. I was taking offense to the site in question SAYING that she was pushing an agenda.
