but gamearena servers were reliable enough.

SF maps lend themselves to I/O mode very well, so if you like that, the world's your oyster. Typically, there are a dozen Warlord maps, half-dozen Ghost Town, plus a few Mass Destructions running at all times.

Iron Gator, Surge are uncommon; Night Flight, Devil's Perch, Leviathan rare.

But I've been playing SF alone for about a month and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Special Forces is a very refreshing change. At about 370-odd hours of vanilla I tried out my special forces and I've been playing it since. Ghost Town and Warlord alone are worth it- but gems like Night Flight, Leviathan and Iron Gator make it a must have. Also, you get a whole new assortment of badges, ribbons and medals to get. What's not to like?

I bought SF when it first came out... I'm not sure I've played vanilla for more than 5 minutes since that day.

Unlocks aside, the added tactical ability of ziplines and grappling hooks is enough to make it cool

tear gas and flash bangs keep me rolling with laughter

SF is way better IMO, I played vanilla and got sick of all the jet whores, it took ALL the fun outta the game for me, then I got SF and haven't looked back. There are choppers, but none of the maps have jets. Plus the tactical weapons add a much needed element to the game (smoke, gas, zip line, grapple hook).

Definitely worth the $$.
