I snipe on the front line, usually because there are more targets there.  However, sometimes I move to capping flags and try to take out any camping cappers, and to do this safely (they're camping), I have to do it from a distance.  Thus I hide, and thus I do all of the above.

Mostly running with a squad myself. Though when me and two roomies play, we occasionally camp a rooftop with 2 snipers and a medic. To be killed by a single grenade from below ofc.

A bit of both.

If i am fighting against sniper's then i am more likely to find a object to hide behind, kill them and move on.
But just in general i'm normally running towards them jumping crouching with my M95.

I'm a former CSS player, and I've always played with the crappy sniper: the scout. After a while you're just able to pull off these very lucky and unfair shots in cqc. I'm not quite there with BF2 yet, but who knows.

How do you people see at 300m, Most maps can see a max of 150 meters even with your graphics setting optimised for range

I said "On the front line" but actually its more of a "just behind the line" role with the occasionally aggressive charge to the fore.

With all settings on high you cant see as much though. Your better off without shadows and I still cant see 300 meters

Null vote: depends on the map, the way the game is going and both teams' makeup. Adaptability is key.

OP, I'd just like to point out that your kill rate for the sniper rifle is under 30. And your accuracy is below average too. So I don't think you're headshotting people as much as you imply.

Urban maps generally have a lowish cap on view range but a few of the open maps have ranges well up there (Wake, Dalian, Dragon, Oman, Fushe, Kubra, Clean Sweep and Zatar).

So how far can you see player models on Wake for example? If it's not out to 300m and beyond then you don't have the settings optimised more than likely. Either that or your graphics card is crappy?

Roger that.

Most settings don't have any effect on view range, and can impact negatively on the ability to discern targets the higher they go in fact.

I usually kill a lot, 90 % probability, enemy snipers if they are in the front line, when I am not a sniper.  Good rifle fodder to me.

I seldom be with my sniper rifle in the front line, if I do I use claymores.

When I am a sniper, I am always moving and hiding for a short period in the medium to long distance to enemy. That is the key. When in long distances I have not learn to have the right bullet drop in all shots, but the most shots are now hitting , and I can see results => # 374. in global sniper accuracy.

Best of this game is when you have a GOOD hiding place and you see enemy soldiers panicking for you and looking you from wrong places. And then killing them.
