I wanted to share this. It seems to me the majority of the troops over there are just doing what is asked of them, without feeling the need to make a political statement. Just like you and your job, they want to do their work and come home to their families. Most are too humble to take advantage of their position (Unlike some celebrities). I have friends and family in the military and they serve in the name of duty. Not to have their opinion used as a political tool. We should not be taking advantage of a soldiers personal view in order to promote our own political agenda. That is called exploitation and it is disgraceful.

I have family over there too. The issue is just that. they are already being exploited by our government officials.

Maybe, but to put them in the line of fire and then capitalize on their personal views is something entirely different.

The people I have met through the years, who had been a part of the U.S. military are the most patriotic people. I've met a lot of WW2 vets, Korea, Vietnam, Somolia. When I would raise some issue about America being this or that, they would mostly stonily reply that America was still the best, freest country.

I agree.

Some of the younger Marines I've known out of 29 Palms have seen some pretty harsh stuff, I really admire them.

Stop-loss, look it up.  I'm curious what percentage of our force is "volunteer" anymore.  I did 2 years as a draftee, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
