Guys.... I am fed up with all the niggles; the snail speed; the gayness; the utter unreliability and the shittyness of XP.

XP fails. Yes, you may be telling me that Vista is not that big of an upgrade. Oh, but it is. Very much so.
- Everything is easier to access
- Most software runs faster
- It is visually nicer
- I can start fresh with just the basics I need ( CS3, Opera, Xfire ) ; no erros, no crashes, no crap.

I don't play many games anymore, and the ones I do play are compatible with Vista.

I just want the ease of it. Just that. If XP had a simple fixer that just sorted out everything ( I wish ) then I would stick with it. But what is the point? Really. In 2 years, DirectX 10 will be out and showing off and I will be ready to take it on.
I have all my files on 10 DVDs ready to be transferred. I just cannot be bothered with this shit operating system.

If you think otherwisel; please....tell me.

But, remember this, Vista > XP; for people who don't play games anymore or only play them rarely. I don't care about "core" gamers. They can go stick with XP for all I care.

If you're not a gamer, go for it. If you're a gamer, make sure you have an uber system (read: 8800s, preferrably SLI, quad core, 4GB DDR2, and some nice hard drives). I learned the hard way that Vista + Gaming does not play well with so-so computers.

You still on Vista? What were your opinions of it?
I would just like to know your good and horrible experiences of it.

Oh, thank god I am not a gamer anymore.

When you say DivX 10, do you mean DirectX? Or was that some joke that is far beyond my inferior intellect?

Vista is pretty good. Not too many programs are compatible with it yet, but most programs will be after a few months. The look on Vista is way better than Xp. I got Vista on a pretty crappy laptop (1 Gb Ram, 1.60Ghz processor) so you don't need the best pc to run it, only if you are going to play games on it...
If you don't play games anymore, go for it and upgrade...

Vista is a RAM eater. I suppose if you don't care about that than it's all hunky-dory.

You mean it monitors it? Or takes note of it?

tagging is slang in america for having sex with someone, ie vista will rape your bios

I left Vista some weeks ago. Sexy as it is, I can't stand the major lag I got in games and in simple apps like iTunes.

I haven't had one compatability issue.

GenerallyTechnically, wrong.

Vista comes with a new thing called "SuperFetch". If i was to look at my RAM usage now, it tells me that I have 16mb free. Is all of this used by the resource hungry Vista? No. As much "free" RAM as possible is used by SuperFetch to preload commonly used applications into the RAM. Therefore, instead of having free RAM doing nothing, and then loading up applications when you need them, SuperFetch already has commly used applications loaded into memory, so things operate much quicker with Vista.

However, Vista does use more memory than XP, however nowhere near as much as people think.

I'm indifferent .. I don't get unexplained errors, goofy issues, or pay for any of it. From a regular user standpoint ... Windows flavors, Linux Flavors, Mac OS .. all the same shit. If all my games ran on linux I would just run Fedora and VM everything else.

I want Vista... despite all the bad press.

It's just paying for it that's the problem...

Thanks for clearing that up by the way. That means I won't have to kill myself or switch to a Mac when Vista becomes the only operating system to have.
