We were all at this restaurant just outside our gated community, and its nice and sunny day. Then, while we eat, we see all these flashes of light... lightning? but no following thunder, nor any clouds nor rain. Not for long, though. Power over the whole area gets cut (around 5-6 square miles) and considering it's 40 degree weather with 90% relative humidity, it is not the most comfortable way to be.
Then the worst part comes: the wind.
It knocks loose the tent-awning over the bikes and scooters, and knocks them all over... into the flooding waters. So, we all run out to try and save them, but every single engine has flooded. Screwed. It's hot water rain, and more lightning goes off here and there. I swear if I didn't know any better I'd have thought it was a typhoon, and it'd be impossible to get home. And we'd be stuck for days.
So there we were, six of us all huddled on a restaurant wall under cover (which didn't really help - strong winds make rain get everywhere) all sweaty and hot for almost 3 hours, before the power gets back, we dry off and cool down inside before walking home.
I've been in major hurricanes and typhoons before, but i always knew they were coming. When it happens like this... jesus.
