You don't need drivers for using an SATA drive. Those only come into play when using RAID.

That depends on the chipset. If it's SATA-SCSI-PCI interface (e.g. a SiliconImage SiI3112) then you need a driver just to install XP.

Short answer: Yes, you'll need a floppy. You probably need to press F6 during the XP setup to load your SATA drivers - that will only work with a floppy.

Short answer, but not so short when you look into it: You could create an XP install disk with the SATA drivers 'slipstreamed' into it. This is a relatively easy thing to do. If you can find the relevant information. Try searching the Microsoft website for 'slipstreaming'...

Depends on the bios of the board.

Try adding the SATA drivers to your windows install (slipstream) ...

.. this makes it easy .. http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Then when you install you just press f6 and the installer will already have your drivers.

Nice find. I've been waiting for a tool like this all my life. (+1 to first person that can name the misquote).

Slipstreaming is a PITA, this seems to do it all in one easy to use app.
