Saying ”Why do you still care about padding” is bullshit. Of course people care – what do you think? Don’t come here pretend you don’t care about stats. You’re on a fucking forum on the largest BF2 stat site on the net for christ’s sake. Do *I* care? Yes, of course. Why? Because stats are a big part of BF2 and – in combination of a fun game of course – is something that makes you come back for more. Following your own progress and having different goals is a great thing, imho.
You guys are such hypocrites. Take our aussie mate gene_pool for example. You say you don’t care about this, how come your stats link is to a new account? How many accounts have you got anyway? (rhetorical question). You create a new account to get a real image of how your skills are today – KDR, SPM, accuracy and so on and so forth. But when you link those stats in your profile on this site, it’s for people to SEE, it’s for people to stare in admiration of your 26.67% accuracy and your SPM of 5.57. I can understand. If you’re good at something you want to show it off to others doing the same as you. It’s the basic instinct of competition and need for acceptance and admiration.
Now, I understand the concept of this behaviour and the need to show other people your skills – this is not criticism. HOWEVER, I’m criticising the fact that some of you ACT like you don’t care and play it all cool by saying “why the fuck do you care about people padding?”. It's simple: if you put much time and effort into something you want the above mentioned admiration and positive feedback when you do good. So when someone is padding they can get the same results (stats) as you BUT THEY HAVE NOT DONE IT THROUGH HARD WORK AND DEDICATION! You can compare it to athletes who does drugs and those who are clean. They can achieve their common goals but the guys shooting steroids will get there MUCH faster and through short-cuts that aren’t legal or accepted by the rest of the athletes.
If you competed in track and field and you find out that the best guy in your region where doing drugs to win – would you stand quietly and watch and continue to train hard, eat well, rest and all the other things necessary to reach your goals? Or would you report him to the proper authorities so he could be disqualified, making it more fair for those competing honest to win? Perhaps you would start shooting up yourself in order to stand a chance?
Point is, no one is willing – be it a video game or sports – to stand by and watch people achieve the same things as you by cheating. It’s not fair and people SHOULD care.
