When I bought BF2, after 2 weeks or so I recognized, that the inner ring, on which you put cds and dvds when they are in the jewelcase, of my dvd was damaged. Just a fine little crack, which got grew more and more through usage of my dvd.
So I brought it back to the seller and let me give a new one. Since there I use a image of my dvd and the dvd itself lies in my vault with the other treasures .
I thought I was a isolated case here, but the little brother of my wife had the same problem. Twice!!! In two different drives which where new and functioned without problems so that I think the quality of the dvds which EA uses are plain said bullshit.
So I wanted to know if anybody out there had the same problems?

I don't think it's just EA, my girlfriend just bought a game and had to take it back 3 times to 2 diffrent store branches because each time the disc was f*cked up. Then about a month before that we bought a Ps2 game that was scratched to hell and had to be returned.

Somebody in tEh shipping department is slackin

My BF2 DVD only comes out when I need to play 2142 for a scrim or something.

Other then, only one of my two main games (BF2, CSS) need a disc so taking it out is unnecessary

Meh I have numerous CDs that have cracks in them, it's just overall very cheap material. I recommend using an image to run the game.

CSS doesnt need a disk... It uses steam.

!Shock Horror! My BF2-SF disc isn't in my dvd-drive. But only because I upgraded and reinstalled windows et al recently, so it's safely put away in its box. Before that, apart from when burning backups, it never left it.

Yeah bf2 only comes out of my disk drive when I'm burning dvd's, and it goes into a case till I'm done.

Yep, same  crack (1 centimeter) on the inner ring, until DVD-rom was no longer usable.

In my case i do not think it was caused by use in the DVD drive; it was caused by storing it in the plastic box/bookcase - in which EA sells it - after a playing session.
You could call that "normal" ware and tare  after 300 days of playing, on the other hand I stored the BF1942   CD (!)-rom always in the same sort of  plastic box, and that  CD-rom  never cracked !

" the quality of the dvds which EA uses are plain said bullshit".  Not so sure which quality is worse, that of the retail box/jewelcase, or the DVD-rom itself.

I store my DVD/CD-ROM's  in an spindle from now on, never in the retail boxes.
