I do this with a lot of my games, don't worry about cd cracks.. just use a mini-image. I have a MASSIVE stack of games, no way am I constantly going through it and getting out cd/dvd's everytime I want to play a game when instead I can simply mount the mini-image.
Also, I got myself a SATA CD/DVD drive yesterday. It's spiffy, now my system is almost free of the scourge that is IDE. Just got the spare 250GB IDE drive which i'll be removing when I get my hands on a 750GB or 1TB SATA drive soon.

You know, that all DVDs/CDs around the world are pressed at the same few plants, regardless of the content and the producer/developer.
I know that there's a big one in the Netherlands and another one somewhere here in Austria.
Maybe the copies you got came from the same plant with a charge of bad disks.

Mine was very damaged when I got the game. The DVD was loose inside the cover, and I bought it from an net store. It still worked though, but the DVD is very, very scratched. But I only use the SF DVD nowdays...
My BF2 DVD has only been in my PC about 5 times since I've had it.

My story is exactly like yours!SineNomine wrote:
When I bought BF2, after 2 weeks or so I recognized, that the inner ring, on which you put cds and dvds when they are in the jewelcase, of my dvd was damaged. Just a fine little crack, which got grew more and more through usage of my dvd.
So I brought it back to the seller and let me give a new one. Since there I use a image of my dvd and the dvd itself lies in my vault with the other treasures .
I thought I was a isolated case here, but the little brother of my wife had the same problem. Twice!!! In two different drives which where new and functioned without problems so that I think the quality of the dvds which EA uses are plain said bullshit.
So I wanted to know if anybody out there had the same problems?
small crack grew.... and after 3-4 months DVD became not readable.
I think it was my fault because i always used DVD case to hold disk inside.
Then i bought SF and never used DVD case... the disk is fine no crack no scratches.
