My system is:

AMD Athlon64 3800+ X2
MSI NX7800GT 256MB DDR3 /using latest drivers
2x512MB RAM
HDD WD 200GB SATA-2

Im playing Battlefield 2 on 1024x768, using high settings except dynamic shadows and lighting set to medium, no AA. I was expecting higher FPS values considering what Ive read from reviews about my video card benchmarks. I usualy get 40-60FPS, sometimes i go below 40. I did some reading on the forum, noticed that someone mentioning creating profile for the game in the nVidia control panel.

However there's an existing profile in nVidia control panel, but I don't know what to adjust there and I really wonder if that would make any difference. I'm buying a new LCD 19" monitor so I'll run the game on 1280x1024, it creeps me out when i think what FPS value I would get on that resolution.
Could FPS get better if I get another 1GB RAM memory? I'm experiencing stuttering as well.

I would really appreciate your assistance on this.

Thank you forwardly.

Just keep adjusting the profile until you find something your happy with,( thats what i did) . you can do it while playing, just tab out of game.

More memory will always do wonders.

Set all dynamics on low or off (if possible) and set lighting on medium - after that, you could possibly even play with AA

Isnt that just going lower than deserving, putting any setting on low? 7800GT should be more than descent card, after all, I've been playing the game on 1024x768, which should be not very-demanding resolution. I'm already playing with dynamic shadows and lighting set to medium..I can't believe if this video card would disappoint me that much

i think another gig of ram would do the trick

it's defiantly the ram, 1g is way to low on full graphics

I think you'll need more ram. The card is nice, with 2 gigs of ram you should run most things on high with aa 4x.
I have a 7900GT and 2gigs ram and I run 1280x1024, 4xaa, most things on high.

How much fps u get on these settings? I'm planning on running it at 1280x1024 as well.

Could be your cpu holding you back as well. I have a 3200+, evga 7800gt, 2 gb ram and I can only play on med/high settings because of my cpu. I've read of others using my same card with BF2 settings maxed and smooth fps, but they were using a better cpu, so I think it may have something to do with that.

I don't  have a clue how many fps I have. But the game runs smooth and loads the maps quick enough to grab the chopper or a jet

yea that processor is a burden to your video card. Look for processors like 4000+ and over in 939 socket

939 is discontinued.  Only AM2 for AMD's home market.

there are still processors hanging around, the only excess stock ive really seen in the UK sites are X2 4400's and X2 3800's. with some 3700 single cores.

Here is a link to a 939 socket processor.  It's a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ and it's $135.  Not a bad buy for an upgrade.
