M-95 Vs. M-82A1

Looking around my program files found a picture of the m82 (i know its been seen before) and i was wondering which one you guys would have liked better as the first sniper unlock. Personaly i think the M82A1 looks like a Kickass gun.

M82A1 is ofcourse better , but it would be either pathetic (40-45 dmg ) or unbalanced ( 95 dmg )

The M82A1 would have been way overpowered. Glad it was the M95 that made the final cut.

no, in some cases, someone having to readjust the shot after major recoil rather than bolting, it might take longer or shorter depending on the skill of the person....

couldnt be too overpowered.

wrong in the original coding for the M82 it could only be fired from the prone position

now you may argue that it would still be possible to dolphin dive but with the added recoil it would be hard, and would put it more in its place as a long range rifle.

also the thing with only being able to shoot whilst prone would put it at a disadvantage by preventing fire from behind walls etc. thus imo balancing it

The M-82 and the M-95 fire the same round, hence the same damage. The muzzle break and the buffer springs in the M-82 cut the recoil down to nil. I have shot the M-82A1 in real life and it had about the same recoil as M-16.

and also in your own mod you might want to change the scopes zoom

to do this open the file: objects_server.zip/weapons/handheld/ussni_m82a1/ussni_m82a1.tweak

change this line of code

ObjectTemplate.zoom.addZoomFactor 0
ObjectTemplate.zoom.addZoomFactor 0.8
change it to look like this

ObjectTemplate.zoom.addZoomFactor 0
ObjectTemplate.zoom.addZoomFactor 0.2
this will give it the x5 zoom as seen on the M24, M95 and L96. you can also add more zoom text strings to get multiple zoom levels

***check out further in that thread and you'll be able to copy a better .tweak file for the M82 so that the sounds etc match the animations a bit better and also remove the only being able to fire whilst prone***

***also don't forget the weapon you are using is not the final product, i have noticed quite a few bugs that would have probably been sorted if it was going to be ingame***

any problems just ask me, and i'll try and help.

and have fun trying it out!!! you can also have qutie alot of fun editing stuff like that, like having your own custom army, with M-16s/AKs etc

i had a german one based on the EU but with G-36Ks and Cs. and also mroe accurate guns and more clips for weapons etc... seriously i would give making your own mod a short, i learnt in a few days

Well it takes 1.8 seconds to bolt and if you're good it takes .4 seconds to readjust. If you are not good it takes about 1.0 seconds.

Any way you look at it the gun would be way overpowered and thus out of place.
