No, it depends on how you feel they're going to use morals to influence their policies. I don't see your point contradicting mine, to be frank.Miller wrote:

People need to grow a spine, are you going to vote for someone barely cut rate or someone who knows what they're doing?
I was talking about his performance during the debate. Not necessarily his stance. Remember you don't have to be "right" to win a debate...lolTurquoise wrote:
Well, I'd prefer Romney over a lot of the contenders, but he's Mormon. A lot of Republicans won't vote for him strictly because of that.

My dream ticket:
President: Fred Thompson
Vice President: Colon Powel or Rudy
Sure, it's your choice. It pretty much happens anyway at this point in time for atheist politicians.Miller wrote:

I like Romney, but why do I get this feeling he's the 'John Kerry' in Republican clothing?
As for his religion, I don't see what the big deal is about it. I think his response, "The American People want a person of faith to lead their country" (I'm paraphrasing).
Any good republican is going to have a 'moral backbone', and usually basically relgion.
Even Bill Clinton goes to church, which I find funny.

I didn't get a chance to watch.
Hmm...I can't find it on YouTube. What's funny was all 9 clips of the Democratic debate is on YouTube, but not the Republican Debate yesterday.acEofspadEs6313 wrote:

Maybe later today someone will upload it. A debate like this should be considered 'public domain' anyway - I hope MSNBC is not trying to block it.
I edited this topic title to include the debate tonight.

From what I hear you can go to each candidates website and view thier section of the debate. I haven't checked myself as I have no access to video at work.
I hate Fox News with a fucking passion now. The moderators are actually challenging Ron Pauls replies. Trust me you will see the outtake of this tomorrow. Ron Paul was explaining where the American hatred is coming from. Rudy replied directly to him and asked him to rethink what he said. It's getting ugly now fellas.
This is the third time the moderators took a shot at Paul tonight.
I am not behind Paul at this point but the Fox news shit is a joke. I know... duh

I watched it. They seemed to ask more questions of those candidates that have more face time, ie McCain, Rudy, Romney and I guess they wanted to see Ron Paul hang or something. They gave him more than enough rope to do the job......
Most Mormons I know are Republicans.Turquoise wrote:

Damn, some of those guys are pretty stupid/stubborn if they honestly can't see the connection. Ron Paul seems like a really good guy, too bad it seems like no one in the Republican party agrees with him. He's running on the wrong ticket if you ask me. I have a feeling he'd be very popular with Democratic voters.
He resembles traditional conservatism (not the NeoCon New Conservatives). He should have just stayed closer to projecting the idea of non intervention. He went too far (because of the unprofessional moderation) and came off as a self blamer after the moderator pushed him into the 9/11 card. The moderators are not supposed to debate the candidates.ghettoperson wrote:

To my understanding, FOX is firmly in the conservative leash. And the FOX dogs were apparently unleashed on Ron Paul.
What has Ron Paul done to merit the unleashing of the FOX dogs?

You're right Kmarion. Typical Fox News.
However, he was only painted as a self hater because of the way he was set up. Look at where they placed him. On the end of the stage, like an outcast. Listen to the tone of voice, and the way the moderators phrased their questions. How Guiliani was allowed to stir up blind emotions in people. And then the joke at the end.. implying the moderators were obviously taking sides.
If you look at the situation as Ron Paul was trying to explain it... ITS THE WAY THE ENTIRE WORLD SEES THE SITUATION.
9/11 was in response to American intervention in Middle East Affairs! ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. It's not an attack on your freedom, or an attack on your views on women, or an attack on your culture!
And here is the most disgusting part. To view it this way gets you labelled a self-hater. How is it self-hating? It is simply a view that an action caused a re-action. Its taking a step back. Looking at yourselves as a nation and saying, ok lets think for a minute. Imagine if this was being done to us, how would we feel.
The other misconception is that it's justifying 9/11. Just because he believes US foreign policy is wrong, doesn't mean he believes slaughtering 3000 Americans was just.
Don't you guys see that Ron Paul is the only TRUE patriot on the stage.
He is the only one there trying to find a real permanent solution to the problem. You may call it retreat, surrender, whatever you want. But the truth is you shouldn't have been there in the first place. That is the point he is trying to make, and that's why he views 9/11 that way.
