It took me only something like 2 months, I wasn't planning I just had a lot of free time so I had an average of 500 points per day, so I only played 2 hours per day...
I used the big gap to get some requirements for my vehicles.
Don't play Wake Island like me, if you aren't in a J-10 points come by too slow. I've been playing IO Ghost Town and owning it up to raise my KDR and get to Sgt Major. Doubt it would have taken me this long if I didn't Wake so much before.

lol i've been playing since the game came out, off and on, i had basic training and infrantry training, plus school and a computer that could hardly play it and I'm still not there, maybe 38,000 points and 300 hours, but I play here and there to have fun, sometimes I'll play rounds where I don't do hardly anything because I was playing to win the round or I get really bad luck and run into tanks everytime I spawn.
