Rail gun from Quake III Arena was the best. Unless you count the gun that turned crooks into a snowman from the Home Alone game for Sega. I know it wasn't an fps, but games these days just don't have the raw power of a snowman gun anymore.
mine would be the CS 1.6 AWP. i dont know most of the gun in the top10, except the turtle shells which was very usefull back in the days

The AWP is the number one most important PC FPS gun. Pretty much the most popular FPS online, Counter-Strike 1.6 de_dust2 games are pretty much AWPfests. That's why I don't play CS:CZ anymore lol.
I agree with only the red shells, ice gun, and gravity gun.

IMO the best FPS weapon of all time is the Super Nail Gun in QuakeI.
Even the ammo crates kick ass!

How is the AWP number 1... The kar98 from every world war 2 game should be number 1. That gun has one shot kills to EVERY part of the body in just about every world war 2 game I've played...

Out of all the games I have played, its a mix between M4 in CSS and the AK-101 in BF2.
Simply because these guns are usable in nearly every circumstance. Lots of other games/guns you are required to swap guns alot, but with these guns you're set for virtually every situation.

Mostly, but I prefer the Microwave from Descent. Coupled with the Black Pyro.
G36E in BF2, useful in all situations, G36C in Bf2 useful in all situation as well.
