According to the BF2S wiki there really is no difference other than the cross hairs and reload time. I personally like the L96A1 due to the cross hairs being easier on the eyes.

L96A1 seems to reload faster but that could be in my head. I think the m24 is more accurate though. But if I had to chose L96A1 is my choice.
Because of the crosshairs I seem to be able to shoot the L96A1 more accurately. M24 is still a very close 2nd.

I have clocked up over 655 hours with the sniper rifle alone and pretty much only use the L96A1. I still have a soft spot for the M24, feels like I did my "apprenticeship" with it but choose the L96A1 primarily for the shorter reloading time.
Both rifles are exactly the same in accuracy and the L96A1 reloads in 5 seconds, whereas the M24 is 6 seconds. That one second doesn't seem like much but I can assure you it counts when you are up against a decent sniper.

well, i've got Expert Sniper Badge through using M24, and most of the time, i used to use M24 instead of L96A1, why? IMO, L96A1 not good as M24, well it depends though, on non-infantry servers, i'd go for M95
Both are very similar, but the crosshair gives the L96 a slight advantage. And the sound is cool too

I've always used the L96 because of the thiner crosshairs. Although, here lately, I've become really attached to the default Chinese sniper gun. I can headshot just as easily with it and kill people a hell of a lot faster. Plus it's not that audible and doesn't give away your position as easily as the bolt-action rifles. In my opinion that is.
M24 hands down. I get one shots all the time, i think its the most accurate sniper.
L96 - Thinner crosshairs = Better for long range shootings (particualary aiming for head).

L96A1. It looks a heck of a lot better then the M24, and sounds cooler too.
Wow, you mean snipers actually use guns and not just whore claymores and throw grenades at their feet while running off?
The M24 shoots at the middle of the scope, the L96A1 shoots slightly below. I always miss the first 5 shots when I switch guns, so the L96A1 works better for me because you can use it round after round. The arctic appearance is a bit weird on desert maps but meh.
M95, I can tk noobs out of things for it.
