Well, I have a problem...

I'm running Vista atm, me and my sister have different user accounts on Vista, but she keeps downloading crap from Limewire, found 91 spyware in her fucking map. But I need Limewire for MY music :p.

Is there a way to disable Limewire for my sister's account, but that it stills work in mine

Best suggestion I can offer is get yourself another PC.

Or at least a seperate hard drive...

Or stop the pirating.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Just get rid of it and use torrents. She probably won't know how to use torrents, you probably do. Job done.

And deleting her account doesn't work, I have to give in her password then...

First of all, dump limewire. NOW.
It is now, officially, an illegal means of downloading. The EU will prosecute you, and your ISP will be monitoring you right now. Trust me, I know, a friend of mine got fined £6000 for downloading off limewire ( that is a total of $12000 ). If they catch you, you get screwed, simple as that.
Switch to Bittorrent or Rapidshare or Warez. Never limewire.

Now, if you are not going to do that then... Are you the administrator of the computer? If you are, make yourself password protected and remove administration from your sister then just lock the program. So every time she wants to launch it, she has to input your admin password. Vista allows you to do all of that and more, you can even monitor her every move.

There is another way, find a cracked version of INVISIBLE SECRETS, then just open it up, configure with a master password, go to LOCK APPLICATIONS/PROGRAMS and choose Limewire.exe, so every time someone tries to open up that application they get a message saying "Input your password please". If they cannot, then the program does not start.

I just read his last reply...He can't, because of the fact that she has a password as well. So he has to input her pass before he can set different options for her account.
If you cannot get invisible secrets....then there is no way you can stop her from using limewire.
Invisible secrets is 100% secure and encrypts the .exe file so you and only you can access it. I highly doubt she could crack 256-bit Blowfish algorythm encrytion.

The registry tweak to get it to ask for Admin Credentials (password) instead of "Do you want to Deny or Allow?" as located at

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Code:

ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" = dword:00000002
Change that to 1, 2 or 3. I forget.
The changes are immediate and you won't break anything (besides not asking if you set to 0), just try and load msconfig or something.

If you can get Limewire for access just to admins, then set her to a limited and make it nag for a password.

By the way he has said things, I am guessing both are admin accounts. So no, you cannot disable her account or her password.

Negative.
She is an admin as well, which makes her untouchable by another admin. He cannot set her to limited or standard. This is Vista remember. The one huge thing Microsoft has changed are the accounts. They are secure and much more editable, but an admin cannot edit another admins account, no matter how hard they try. There is possibly a way around the restrictions, but that would mean hacking into Vista, which I am sure he does not want to do.
Just get Invisible Secrets, I promise you it works.

I was under the impression in reality they only bother prosecuting the major offenders? Like I'm sure you're friend downloaded a lot more than 6000 quids worth of software.

Yes....
Ghetto, most people don't realise how much shit they have downloaded off the internet.
They can fine you from £500 to £20000, and it isn't all about how much the software costs, it is also the copyright infringement and how the companies of the software/music deal with it.
He downloaded....I think it was 800 songs. Now take that into account...that is around 35 albums. Not a lot when you think about it that way, eh?
Limewire and Emule and Edonkey are the most un-secure, illegal, harmful p2p software out there.
You either swtich to newsgroups or RS or bittorrent ( which btw, will not last much longer as nearly every single major software producing company is trying to sue them ).

What reply? You mean
And deleting her account doesn't work, I have to give in her password then...
That tells me you can't just delete it, but it doesn't say anything about lowering credentials.

Well in any case he could try Password Recovery. Elcomsoft's works well but that was for XP...

It seems strange fuckheaded that you can't modify another Admin. That means once something becomes Admin they can't be removed (because you can't delete yourself). Maybe in a strange turn of events he is now a Limited Account?

Have you seen the Vista accounts? They are amazing, and very editable, it would be unfair if another admin could just delete another admins account. It works both ways in most places - forums etc etc. You can't ban another admin for example...well mods yes, but another admin no ( trust me, I know ).
Why the hell is it stupid? It would just be like 2 co-managers, they can fire each other...WTF? Doesn't work in this world mate.
As of now, there is no Vista password hacker.
You could try guessing her password, I am quite sure it is easily crackable.
Again, get IS

Another way, yes. You just get a commercial keylogger ( yes, they exist in abundance ) and shove it on her computer. It is undetectable by any anti virus because it has a certain code on it saying it is a commercial product, not an illegal one, so the anti virus passes over it...
