BF2 was working just fine. Then suddenly it started doing that thing where it minimizes but you can bring it back up the menu is just messed up a little. Now, it wont start up at all. It starts, minimizes, and you cant bring it back up. It eats my mouse too. I have to use taskmanager to kill bf2.exe
If it makes a difference it only went THIS far after I installed the booster packs, which I bought today.
also, I already uninstalled everything then reinstalled. I ended backgroud processes, turned off AV etc.

bf2 sucks up your memory, so check if there is another program (or virus) running that you don't need, if your ram fills up, Bf2 will crash pretty quickly.

some chat clients and such will kick it to minimized (I get this when my chat clients drop and reconnect servers).  Try killing every task you don't need (AV, IM clients, etc etc).  Make sure it isn't something else causing the problem. . .

I have killed all the background processos not necessary and tried.
My monitor is a 19in monitor 1280x1024 resolution at 75Hz. I run the game at this resolution. I have tried to run it at 60hz and 75hz.

Try Deleting the Battlefield 2 folder found in "My Documents"- this makes the game redetect all your computer settings etc, which often fixes problems- as they have become corrupt, or something has changed.

If this doesn't work, you could try a manual uninstall, then reinstall, guide to do this can be found here

You can also try the FAQ linked it my sig- it is very detailed.

I definatly looked through that FAQ in your sig.
I have tried the delete BF2 folder in MY documents trick several times.
I completely uninstalled the game, including the registry keys, and reinstalled several times.
I did it again today.
After my system was completely clean of BF2. I installed BF2. THen the SF expansion. Then I installed the 1.41 patch. Then I tried to play. The game doesnt even START AT ALL now. It doesnt come up at all. Not even the first second or two of sound like I would usually hear. WHY!? The game was running PERFECTLY until I tried to install the booster packs off the disc.
I have spent MANY MANY hours now trying to fix this.

This sounds completely retarded, but it works if I'm having a no start problem------once you click on the BF2 icon to start the game give a few seconds then hit start then click on your my documents icon. It's weird I know but it works almost every time.

Sounds like a refresh problem. By chance , do you have another monitor you can try?

Try DLing and running SMART BUSTER.  I used to use this software a lot--it will kill all applications running except windows processes, and it will also free up memory for you.  I loved it and used it all the time before playing any game.

Unfortunately, it will also stop the driver for the Logitech G5, so I haven't used it since I got that mouse.  However, if you are desperate, try DLing this program, busting all non-windows processes, then booting up BF2.

I swear, if that doesn't work, you need to reinstall your OS

What point do you get to?

Do you see the splash screen?

Do you crash at black screen? <--- if so, try disabling router firewall/ windows firewall- this is the first point where BF2 checks internet, and often hangs if a firewall is blocking it.

No splash screen. Screen goes black for about 1 second, then returns to desktop. I have no firewall on whatsoever. Smart Buster is a neat program. I like it, but it didnt fix my problem.
Note: reintalling windows does not count as fixing my problem. I have no way to back up all my music and stuff right now.

I take it you don't have a second monitor. Try forcing your refresh rate with this handy tool.

Also try replacing or upgrading your monitor driver.

Try resintalling BF2.

BF2>Special Forces>1.41>Euro Force>Armored Fury>1.41 again
