Well, the IB program is an excellent program apart from their little fuck up the other day..

My friends in IB 2 who took the history paper 2 exam the other day have just found out that their exam, instead of being a new exam, was the exact same exam published in 2005.. I mean what a fuck up..now IBO have to mark more harshly even when many students hadn't seen the paper before..

Whats more, students in the southern Hemisphere who took the exam a day before the rest in the Northern Hemisphere were able to post the "hiccup" on the student IB forums, so some may have seen it before..

My point is, now IBO has fucked it up for the students because those who have never saw this past paper before are going to get marked down anyways..How unfair, the final exams!!!

EDIT: The note my friend posted on her facebook..

The IBO says:

May 2007: history HL/SL paper 2 (10/05/2007)
The IB wishes to apologize for an error in the production of the May 2007 history HL/SL paper 2. The questions in this paper are those from the May 2005 session. This error arose because of wrongly identifying alternative examination papers created for the May 2005 session. A spare paper should have been forwarded for use in the May 2007 session, but in its place the actual May 2005 paper was used by mistake. This is of course highly regrettable.

At the grade award meeting for history close attention will be paid to the results for all schools with the aim of identifying anomalies in the results for this assessment component. For example, comparisons will be made with candidates’ performance on other components and in comparison with the teachers’ predicted grades. Where differentials can be linked to prior experience of the paper, an adjustment to the marks awarded will be considered.

Again, we apologize for this serious oversight. As in each examination session, every effort will be made to ensure that the results for history are a true reflection of each candidate’s ability.

..What does this mean?? We pay 100,000 kr a year for the IBO to fuck up and be able to subjectively grade us?? So we study off past papers..the IBO should not penalise us for their mistakes. What pathetic bullshit. Does this mean that if youre predicted a four, and you do incredibly well on p2, they have the right to bring it down for that reason? Injustice!
Of course, I suppose it could also work to our advantage in some cases. Still though. It is a matter of principle and I think it's absolutely ludicrous.

Why don't they give the Students a new exam paper of this year? Sure its a pain in the ass to re-do it but at the end of the day it will be fair.

Mainly because it is too difficult to organise and very expensive..besides, ideally the students shouldn't be penailized for this..

Thats their problem then. If the system messes up the Student(s) shouldn't be held liable.

Seems like every year now there's some kind of controversy with CGSE's or A levels (or whatever their called now) and students grades being messed around with.  They need to get their shit together.
