I play the original BF2 (with the newest patch) all the time. I haven't touched the SF expansion. There really hasn't been any major change in gameplay on the servers.
The minor differences I have noticed are: (and I only play on ranked servers)
1. Various players have more powerful guns and flashbangs
2. Reliance on the noob tube (grenade launcher) to kill
3. Spawn camping un-capturable bases at an all-time high
So I guess the main difference is stat padding...
PERSONAL COMPLAINT:
Spawn camping un-capturable bases should simply garner negative points. ...OR... if people want to continue playing dishonorably, they will be dealt with dishonorably.
Well, nice to see that you registered a brand new account and didn't even read any of the well discussed sticky topics.
First, the weapons are not any great improvement, they are just different. The exact numbers are available
here.
Second, if someone hits you with the GL from 5 meters (and misses at almost any greater distance), then you can call them a n00b or GL dependant or whatever. If I pick you off from 30-50 meters, it is just called talent.
Third, if you are being camped because it is your last spawn then you deserve it because the other team won all of the other points. If you have other spawn points, then use them and get the drop on the camper. If the camper is in a vehicle (especially at Hotel in Karkand) then use the infamous 'Jihad Jeep' technique. I've taken out plenty of armor pulling that stunt and often don't even die when doing it - even got banned from a server because the admin what the spawn camper and didn't like that i took him out 3 times in a row with that technique.
NOTHING in this game is an unbeatable technique, you just have to let go of your silly little rules and say to yourself, "Okay, I hate what he is doing. Now what technique, no matter how 'underhanded' can I use to prevent his style of play that I dislike."
My own personal example:
Blackhawk is still a dominant force on Mashtuur City, not as much as before 1.03 patch, but it still racks up kills and tilts the balance of power. When I play MEC on that map I get a squad together to take the South Gas Station and prevent the BH from respawning. While most of the squad moves into position, I put C4 on the 'whale' and kamakaze the BH a few times. It is amazing how many players stop being engi for that helo after they get mysteriously C4'd in mid air.
I know that there are those players who think that ramming is cheap. On most maps I avoid it, but on Mash I will do whatever it takes to give my team the advantage. With this technique employed, the USMC loses its prexisting advantage making for a fierce ground battle.
Edit: Ramming Tip - hit them from above, dive down aiming for thier rotor.
