I got tired of playing today after dying non-stop to strafing J-10s flying over Wake Island with no hope at them ever been shot down.  So, I've decided to write down a few things I would love EA/DICE or whoever to attempt for the next game.

We all know that eventually the graphics will be so life-like that it would pass into the bizarre if it went any farther.  Just look at CRYSIS. http://www.incrysis.com/ Games will have to focus more on strategy, story, and overall game-play.  I have limited myself just to 50 aspects because there are many things that could be implemented turning it into WoW instead of a battlefield game.

This would be the greatest battlefield game that people would buy and wouldn't need another game.

Things that probably will not ever be implemented for just ONE game, especially BF2:

1: Completely destructible world: IE. buildings, terrain, mountains, lakes...etc
2: A huge battlefield where the carriers and airports are not right beside everything.
3: America's Army requirements:  having to go through medic training to become a medic, etc.
4: Getting wet damages your gear.
5: Bombs can blow your legs/arms/hands/feet off and medics can't simply shock paddle you back from the dead.
6: Fight in real time cities with bugs/birds/civilians/civilian airplanes/police/ in the manner of Sim City.
7: Be able to walk into every building and open every window and door.
8: Be able to eat/sleep/drink
9: Weapons are anything you can pick up as well as guns.
10: Have to play flight Sims or be familiar with them to fly the jets/choppers or drive tanks etc.
11: Voice to text and text to voice
12: Customized profiles/pictures/hair/eye/body size/etc
13: A virtual suit designed to move when you move and how you move.  Exercise for everyone!
14: Sharks and other sea-life in the ocean
15: Customizable vehicles
16: A currency that would enable the victorious team or quest to buy better stuff.
17: enable BF2 to be backwards compatible with older games
18: all video and sound drivers would work starting at a certain point...(pipe dream for sure)
19: Chance to get malaria, struck by lightning, heart attacks, heat stroke, frost bite, etc.
20: All countries and all languages represented in the game.
21: A graveyard for slain heroes that quit the game, but earned high honors/valor/etc.  Like that of Arlington VA.
22: Maps that change in size during the game according to how many people are in it.
23: Scale maps from the entire Earth to a CQB room anywhere at any time.
24: No limitation or limitation to the number of players.
25: Full realism or customized realism/gravity/weather..etc

Things that should be implemented, especially for BF2:

1:  Mobile AA vehicles have radars and add strelas, s300s, shilkas, Osas.
2:  Weather and time changing.  I.E. Morning to night.   Have servers and games share both aspects according to where the sever is located.  Play in hurricane if you want.
3:  Only pilots can fly jets/choppers and they cannot simply hop in the gunner seat with a Eryx on their backs.
4:  Ejecting from jets rather than simply falling from them.
5:  AT Mines and claymores never disappear unless blown up or disabled.
6:  Mines, claymores and C4 can be blow up if shot or bombed.
7:  Guns can jam or misfire.
8:  Ricochet
9:  You can be shot blind or go deaf after artillery.  Think of the effect of Artillery in Call of Duty.
10: You must land a jet/chopper to get repairs and not in a matter of seconds either.
11: Jets/choppers/tanks/cars all use fuel.
12: Guns overheat and melt.
13: Trees are not invulnerable stone monoliths; they can burn down.
14: On going battle that goes on forever or ((rotation is possible)).  This would eliminate the " I just joined into a map rotation"
15: Convoys, Jet Escorts, and POW rescues.
16: Bring back conquest, death-match, CTF, and last man standing
17: Night maps that are totally dark without your night vision.
18: Bring back battleships.
19: Stingers
20: No random spawning on flags:  parachute from C130s, Vietnam tunnels, convoys etc.
21: Artillery vehicles
22: super weapons: NCBs.
23: engineer crews that would build or demolish stuff
24: destroyed vehicles would remain unless cleared.  Could create barricades!!
25: Ranks determine more than just who gets to be commander first.

------------------------

I know for certain that this game isn't happening because the cost would be unreal and the amount of patches and testing would never end.   The hardware required and the Internet connection required would exceed indefinitely.  The number of administrators would take up a small country for some servers.  Would there be enough people interested in playing certain servers, and would you be able to find anyone in the game?

Not to mention how long would the load time be.

Just thought I'd share with you, my ideal game.   Somethings I would like to see happen, though.   Not all of them are unreasonable; things that EA could do.

I realize that most people just want a quick shooter-upper, but honestly BF2 was supposed to be the realistic
Unreal Tournament.  Why not make it as realistic as possible...

That's the first thing that popped into my head too.

Anyway, I don't like some of your ideas, but if the rest were implemented, it would be pretty fun methinks.

Hell yeah. Having sharks in the ocean would be hilarious. Would stop all those noobs from bailing out of jets in the middle of the ocean to avoid a death when I get tone on them.

Sounds great, but I can't afford a super computer to run that!!

There's a game called All Points Bulletin coming out this year, it's a GTA style mmorpg, you'll probably like it.

Probably the reason I even started this thread is that after playing console and PC games for nearly 15 years is that I have grown a bit of concern about the constant demand for better graphics over story/game-play.  Graphics didn't really concern people that much when they were playing Frogger or Scorched Earth years back.

Yet, in an ironic twist, I buy games like Oblivion and BF2 expected to be awed by the amazing universe before me.  Instead, I run around copy and paste pretty boxes and die if I thought about taking a short cut across Zatar's shoreline.

My problem is that I am now looking for glitches and places where the limitations are being met.  I guess being a map-maker for Unreal Tournament has taken away the pristine and naive universe I once lived in.

In some ways, I want the games to be old like the way Zelda, Mario, and Pac-man were.  Sure they were dumb, but the objective was simple and the fun could be multiplied.  Now, the fun is determined by so many variables that I am overwhelmed and uncertain of the role I play.  Being given limitations determines my role.   Yet this demand for realism with limitations is annoying.  Why make all jets fly at the same speed or jeeps even.  Why the realism in one aspect of BF2 and not another?  Some of these are doable and others are not.  I'm simply saying that it's becoming harder to have fair fights in games.  Strategy obviously favors those with more experience, but in some cases the learning curve is brutal enough to make people quit.

Again, this is why I like America's Army training program you have to complete before you join online games.

People laugh at the matrix, but games might become like that in the future.  I'm not so sure I even want to take either the red or blue pill.  Yet, I am tugged towards having an online self, getting lost in the machine if you will.  It be nice to have a virtual universe to wage war in, but then again look at what happened to the lawn mower man.  Eventually the novelty would wear off, the graphics would be lifelike and I'd suddenly be plunged into Iraq instead of Kubra Dam.

I wonder what the ESRB would be...

I like to speculate on the future of games.  My dream may yet come true and then become my nightmare the next day when I wake up unable to tell if I'm offline.

Would you be able to separate life from a game if it were totally engrossing and realistic?  I'm already thinking about whipping out Ocarina of Time.
