Lost is in a pretty interesting situation now.  During the final 3 seasons, I think it will either be applauded as one of the best TV dramas in television history, or it could degrade into one, huge, disappointment that was 6 years in the making.

In my view, saying the flashforward only represents a possibility of what could happen doesnt exactly make sense.  Every single flashback in the show has happened within reality, so having a flashfoward on what could possibly happen just doesnt make sense.

Seeing as how there has never been a "flashforward" in an episode, I think in fact the island scenes were the flashback, and the flashforward was actually happening in real time.  The show needs a new twist, desperately, and jumping forward a few years will help explain the islands mysteries with a more refreshing backdrop.  I think in the final 3 seasons we'll learn how they got off the island, what the island is, and, based on that information, we'll learn why Jack wants to go back.  I think the show may end with the people who left the island ultimately going back.

Lost is like Gilligan's Island minus slapstick comedy
