Tippman 98 is decent and reliable. My cousins, brothers and myself use about 12 of them when we get together and have not had any problems in the last 2 years. Before we started using these we had acoupel "nicer" guns that didn't hold up too well.
The sniper edition is awesome.KnowMeByTrailOfDead wrote:

K. I have played Paintball for more than 5 years now.
Give me some info about it, and I can advise you.
Tell me at least these:
What is it for. Outside campaign or hall/outside hall use, or League use?
How good does it have to be. Are you looking for an expensive, good gun or just a basic gun to get it started?
Do you want a normal single shot gun (might find cheaper), or an electronic gun with fire modes?
But:
Don't buy a Tippmann. They are good for renting purposes yes, because they are strong and customizable. BUT for private use they are too unprofessional, too rough and too expensive. You also have to customize them like hell to make them good, and that will take more money.
Remember, that's just my opinion about the Tippmanns...

Nooo please don't buy a tippman!!!!!!
Depends what type of gun you are after, one for Recball(running round woods and jumping in mud)
Or Tournament gun (for mainly sup air, fast and light)
Tippman's are ok for being able to be thrown in mud and still work, but really dislike the design.
For a cheap light fast gun i would go for an Ion from Smarts parts,it will run on C02 or air,but you will need to buy a electronic hopper.

Yup, Ion with a hopper and a 300 bar bottle would be my choice for him, probably{uscm}Jyden wrote:

my friend had a tippman a5 when he started and said it was decent, but other than that i cant help you
It's good to find a paintball community here on bf2s.com! I play on a local team that has won one tournament, but generally does well overall.
On Tippmann's, these unbreakable wonders are great to have for casual players. Certainly, if one is willing to spend a good deal of money, I wouldn't advise a Tippmann when so many other great options are available, but they are excellent for a starter marker. They do not need to be upgraded, but can be if needed.
While Spyders and Piranhas are often criticized, these basic markers can be well used. A couple of my teammates have used them well in tournaments. Of course, an upgrade of at least a new barrel is recommended to fix the weak accuracy with these markers, but for a casual player, Spyders and Piranhas are strongly recommended.
For laying down the paint, a strain on the wallet but excellent on the field, I would agree with DeathUnlimited. The ION is unmatched in its price range, but it does take a player willing to spend a little more.

Stuff paintball, get into RAM
Anything with an anti-chop eye or some equivalent, and a ROF of at least 12 BPS.
The last paintball gun that I owned was an Angel IR3. The second best thing about that gun was that it never chopped a single ball while I owned it, even with crappy paint.
The best thing about that gun was that I got it for free. A week after recieving the gun from an online store, I got refunded the whole amount of the paintball gun($1200) for no reason. It was like christmas in October.
