I can't be assed to click the links, but don't get a P4. They are old and crappy.
Get a C2D.

Get a cheaper mobo (like a Gigabyte DS3) and buy a C2D.

a P4 @ 2.66 GHz is gonna be bottlenecking like crazy. Anyhow I believe you have some wrong info on it. There were never netburst based CPUs @ 2.66 if I remember correctly (either 2.6 or 2.8) memory serves me wrong. The P-D 805 was clocked at 2.66. Also the x2 would designate it as a P-D not P4

It all looks good. That Geil RAM is good, but apparently it only comes in as PC5300 speeds compared to the supposed PC6400 speeds. Ofcourse you can overclock it, but when its supposed to be a certain speed, you want it to be that!

Also that Asus board is getting dated, not that there is any huge advancement at the moment or that that one is particuarly crappy, just letting you know.

Check out www.scan.co.uk, its usually a lot cheaper than OcUK.

A Gigabyte GA P35C DS3R, it'll do everything you want now and you wont have to change it when your next upgrade comes around. It's only a few quid more but then you wont have to buy a whole new board in the future.

Edit: And its not fussy with RAM, like Asus boards are sometimes

they are generally great overclockers. Though at stock speeds they are slow, especially for single threaded apps (like nearly all games). It will be a major bottleneck for a 8800GTS. Please get a C2D

I agree with Max. I didn't realise you weren't getting one when I told you about that board. I don't think it will work with a Pentium D CPU. So try and get that extra £100, it'll be worth it!

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=793

That one will suit you, although its under 2.0Ghz, its so easy to overclcok even my Mum could do it! You'll reach 2.4Ghz if not more. And its Sckt 775.

Here's what I am looking at:

Total price in Canajun l00nies.

I need to add some arctic silver compound and 2 thermaltake spirit II's for the north bridge and south bridge coolers. I will overclock it so that motherboard will run even hotter than its already melting stock temperature.

Thats the best for that money. If you don't want to overclcok this is the best for you.

Try www.scan.co.uk, they have that for a lot cheaper, and you'll save a bundle on everything.

Edit: Its £136.29 on SCAN.
