Ok, my computer is absolutely flooded with spyware, viruses and everything...which is slowing down my internet greatly and such. Ive tried lots of things to get rid of it, such as AVG, it says it has healed the virus yet pops up with the same virus everytime I scan.

Anyway, I'm going to format just to clean it out. But I need to clarify something.

I have 1 320GB HD which is split into 2 sections. C:\ which has windows and all programs installed and F:\ which so far has nothing in it as I have not had to use it.

My question is, if I want to format...can I backup the stuff I need (ie: personal folders) onto the F section (which is the same HDD as the C section) and still format C:\ without wiping everything off F:\ too?

Or do I have to go through all the trouble of splitting up my folders using winRAR and burning each section onto DVD

when you reformat you choose if you want to delete a partition or not, therefore just choose to delete partition C: and reinstall windows and F: should be left untouched

True.

Windows Instalation will ask which one.
Delete C:\WINDOWS\ (hit D), then confirm (I think L) then format "Unpartitioned Space" in NTFS (Quick).
