Interesting story.
No, as long as your respectful and up front you usually won't have trouble. Being a cop is job like anything else.CommieChipmunk wrote:

Ok, so I don't hate cops anymore. Never did actually. Not individually. What I hate is the government. Except I also feel this is the greatest country ever...nevermind.
I'm such a dumbass. There, let that quote live long and prosper.
I'm attempting ( again ) to quit tobacco.
Of course, my wife wants me to quit, just not act any differently around her while I do it. ( right )
So, I was feeling edgy, she calls me an ass, so I load up the bike, back pack and camping gear and head out. Leaving the neighborhood I made an illegal u-turn, and wouldn't you know it, a cop saw me.
Oh, it gets better. I had a box of ammo in the cab and had totally forgotten the pistol in my backpack, until the lights started flashing behind me. I always pack heat when I ride, but usually carry it legally, seperate from the ammo.
So of course he asks if I knew why he pulled me over and if I had any weapons. I said, yes right there officer. In my backpack, inches from me. A pistol in fact. Can I step out? Hi, my names Alex, and I'm a dumbass.
He says, " I can see your going camping, chill out. Don't stress. I have to cuff you why we search your vehicle."
So, after talking to my wife ( who thankfully just said I was an ass, and not a violent ass ) they followed me home and watched me put the gun in the attic where I store it.
I don't see how I didn't smell like booze as me and the wife had just shared a bottle of merlot. Rolling papers, pipe and a military style combat knife remain undisturbed in my truck; they didn't say a word about them but wanted to know about my previous military experience.
The cops thanked me for being respectful and honest and they left.
Why am I posting this? Because I got righteously branded a cop hater here, and I want to set things straight.
They could have charged me with a felony. I got a traffic ticket.
I am such an idiot.
