It boggles the mind that there are people still actually debating as to whether or not the Holocaust ever happened. Forget the government of Iran, as they are nothing but trouble making rabblerousers.

Do you think that this will douse the flame of denial, or fan the flames of " exageration ".

The Holocaust will happen again if the Islamofacist  militants get their way.

Firstly, anyone denying the holocaust is an idiot. I suppose it can be considered fair enough to argue over the exact figures but to try and deny the thing outright is ridiculous. However, I'm not sure I agree with the idea that some countries lock people up for denying it ...that ironically seems a bit too much like something the Nazis would do.

On your last comment ATG I see more similarities between the US and the Nazis at the moment than the Islamic extremists. Now I'm not for one minute saying the US are as bad as the Nazis but look at the situation... the Nazis rose to power democratically in the majority (the Islamic extremists are a minority), the Nazis spent a long time perpetuating ideas about the Jews being evil, untrustworthy, crafty and seeking world domination (Islamic extremists, we're constantly told, particularly by the US media, desire world domination and are twisted terrorists hell-bent on destruction ...sadly many people no longer distinguish between normal Muslims and extremists). The invasion of Iraq could be legitimately compared with the invasion of Poland in WWII from a Muslim point of view (Iraq was never a threat to the US).

Anyone denying the Holocaust deserves a punishment.  In several European countries you can get fines and jail for doing it.  Since humans are stupid, you have to make laws against Holocaust denial.  Otherwise, these anti-semite assholes will continue to spread the hatred towards Jews, and eventually another Holocaust could take place.

Fines would be fair enough actually, jail time is ridiculous though. I agree that the ability to spew holocaust denial rhetoric should be somehow impeded.

Nobody debates the occurrence of the Holocaust, only the extent to which it happened. A worthwhile debate considering is was such a fundamental moment in our past. Lets get it right.

Free speech. I don't like the fact that they spout the crap they do but well...

When have they backed it up with facts? My father has some "denial" views.

Edit.
When I say "denial" I mean he claims that events were exagerated as many Jews emmigrated to the USSR (aethiest state, so no religion would have been listed and names would have been changed.) and other people who converted to avoid the Nazi progroms.

He's always supported it with facts on immigration and numbers of populations at the time. He doesn't deny what took place. Just some of the extent.

I disagree with him. Haven't told him. Probably get thrown out of my house if I do. Then again, I haven't told him I want to join the Australian Army for a few years. Which will probably also get me thrown out of the house.

The only problem I have with the way the world views the holocaust is that the Jews will tend to let it define them even today, and that no one gives a shit about the Russians, who took at least three times the casualties the Jews did fighting back.  It just seems to me to be a bit of a double standard.  If life is all worth the same, then there should be museums to the russians about how much they got screwed by the Nazis.  But there aren't.
Most Russians where actually killed by Stalin.
And most German Jews were killed by Hitler.  They have memorials though.  Im glad to hear that russian civilians are also honored at the memorials. But that doesn't change the fact that 85 percent of the russian population born in 1923 was killed in the war.  All I'm saying is that that sacrifice for the allies should be honored in some way, even if they did fight back.
