My theory as to why Suicide is illegal.

My thoughts as to why Suicide is illegal in America is becuase they government wants people alive because the more people they have alive, the more money people can pay taxes, and the more people that pay taxes, the more money the government makes. However this is also a double edged sword, because about .1% (I think) of people cheat on their taxes, thus them being alive and not giving the government the full amount of the money. So, what do you think about Suicide being illegal, should it be legal and why do you think that it is legal?

EDIT: I'm talking about an attempted Suicide, meaning, not acctually completing the act but being talked into not doing it.

I don't think suicide is illegal. They can't arrest you for committing suicide...

If it is illegal, then it's because it's self homicide. Homicide = illegal.

In the U.S. suicide has never been treated as a crime nor punished by property forfeiture or ignominious burial. Some states listed it on the books as a felony but imposed no penalty.

Suicide isn't illegal. They can't arrest you for committing suicide...

I think you might be talking about failed attempts. All crimes are not dealt with punishment, some are dealt with through rehabilitation.

They can section you if they deem you a danger to yourself or others due to mental health (in the UK anyway).

On the other point, lets make it legal for those who don't pay tax. Never hurts to compromise

What about a person who tried to OD on a drug? They could survive and need therapy. Not all suicides are violent.

personally i frown on suicide.
but i highly doubt the government has some crazy conspiracy like taking all of our money through punishing attempted suicides...

Its cause the government is Cristian. They are against suicide on the account that you will go to hell if you do go through with it.
