They can be nice sometimes. They were illegal in my county but I believe they are now legal again. My uncle's roommate breeds them. I've only seen one, it was this big happy lookin fella I saw a couple of years ago in my uncle's back yard. He was really nice but he was still much larger than me at the time so I didn't even go near him, lol.

training and breed and upbringing are all well and good, but sometimes animals, like people, are just Jerks !
Its illegal to import pit bulls (and three other breeds) here for that very reason, not sure about breeding them though. Its often in the news.
This is stupid! Dogs can be trained to be aggressive but also to be friendly. Almost all kills by pitbulls happened by trained guard dogs or fighting dogs. I've also seen lots of pitbulls who where raised friendly and didn't even hurt a fly.
If people were held accountable for what their pets do, there would be far fewer pit bulls.

I know a few Pit Terriers. And only one am I skeptical of. The ones I know are all sweet loving family pets. 99% of the time it the masters fault any dog behaves this way. Most people should not own dogs in general and only a few should own Pit Terriers. Here is my Rottie. Be careful she might lick you.

Cute Pup! I've got a female English Mastiff but have had a Doberman before that I trusted so much I let my 1 yr old son play with her. It is absolutely ignorant for anyone to say that we should exterminate a breed of dog because some asshole trained it to be aggressive. It would make more sense to exterminate the owners!
Rotweillers, Dobbermans etc. are not the same as Pit Bulls. A dogs breed is very important to its behaviour, as is its training. Dobbermans are lovely dogs and can be fine around children. Pit Bulls have some very bad characteristic traits in their breed which make them a menace.

those dogs have instincts you can not get a hold off, no matter how good they are trained (which goes for almost every dog). pitbulls are dangerous and most people cant handle those dogs
From what I understand, Bitbulls and Rottwielers are naturally more agressive than other dogs. So, they are naturally easier to turn into a monster if IMPROPERLY treated.
I know a German Shorthair that had a pretty bad upbringing, but is nice as hell. I don't know too many Rots or Pits that were abused that are nice.
My disposition is that those dogs are good dogs, but are the most prone to be dangerous if beaten, abused, or neglected.
Plus, these dogs are just more menacing looking. That doesn't help.

i don't understand why people want them.my neighbors went through two of them before they finally got the idea.the first pit bull attacked one of their little poodles and killed it,so they got rid of the first one.then they got another pit bull,but this time a puppy thinking that it would help.it killed the other little poodle they had,so they got rid of that one.now they have one mut dog in their yard.i'm surprised that their kids never got hurt in all that time,as they have three kids about 3-6 years old.stupid people,i tell ya...

Meh, I prefer house cats anyhow. House cats can't kill a man, will still tear that poodle apart if you teach it right, and will let you know when strangers are nearby. Then you get a gun, and you're in control of who gets attacked, not your animal.
