Ok so I've just bought a new case for my up coming pc ( the X-Clear Acrylic- if anyone cares) and I need to know what motherboard I should buy. Preferably one that comes with the pro...this computer will have to be able to handle dx10 and windows vista ( I've heard that dx10 will not be running compatible with f'in windows xp. ) Prob because they want to make profit off of there new $600.00+ windows vista operating system.

Edit:

Stuff I need
-Ram
-Motherboard/Pro Combo
-a few ideas on a dx10 card

Stuff I have now, or on the way

-Case
-580 watt power supply
-a shit load of fans
-all the disc drives
-hard drives
-monitor
-512mb graphics card.

price range for new mobo/pro is 300-400 ish  US dollars...(I'm going week by week)

Karma will be handed for really good suggestions.

What GFX do you have?
What CPU do you have?
What RAM do you have?

Or is that what we are trying to find?

Consider the ASUS P5n32-E SLI, a stipppred down version of the Striker Extreme with the 680i SLI chipset.

Read my first post. He needs more than just the mobo, just didn't make it too clear.

Wait...so you DON'T need a CPU?
That would really make life easier. Because its very hard to find something in that price range with a CPU as well.
And its USD??!! It will be even harder to find something like that.

I pretty much need everything with the mobo/cpu ect. My price range can go up by the way like I said I'm going week by week. Maybe up the price
range to....400-700 usd up 1000 is all I really want to spend on it but if I have to I'll do it.

Ok.
Mobo and RAM
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Suggestion for GFX card.
BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSOC2E GeForce 8800GTS 640MB

That goes over your budget by.... around $220.

With that kind of budget it's very hard to find something that is good yet cheap.

EDIT - Saw your post.

Okay then, here is a very good CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache

Grand total = $853.87

You could go for a 320MB GTS card. But there is quite a difference. Depends on how you want to use this computer.

YOU NEED A MORE POWERFUL PSU. WITH WHAT YOU ARE WANTING, THAT PSU IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Assuming he isn't SLi'ing then I think 850W is more than enough. Around 650W will handle an 8800GTS and a strong system, 700W to be safe. Remember, it is the amps that are important! You want a PSU with a (combined) total of at least 36A on the +12V Rail(s).

I was just going on the very safe side.

Better safe than sorry! Again though, I can't stress the importance of PSU Amperage. Low-branded "value" PSUs may claim to have a high wattage, but they may very well have awful Amps.

well to be fair you can get some pretty good cheap psu's

when i was building this i ran out of cash so it has
640mb 8800GTS
2.8 amd 5400+
with a 550Watt psu made by colours it that cost me £20 as i ran out of cash, still works perfectly well though.

450-500W.

But a decent one, cheap PSUs are horrible, really horrible.

Might seem like a dumb question to some but I'd like to know... Would I still be able to play DX9 games with DX10 drivers installed on a DX10 graphics card ??...
