I am currently reinstalling Office 07, downloading Music for my Zune, watching a DVD, ripping a DVD, and typing here.
Installing CS3 Master Collection did take some time though .
Also for the record Zimmer and others, I have no issues with Vista 64 and 4 X 1 gig sticks of ram (Patriot). My board = BFG 680i.
Ugh. My 5600+ sold but my 590i didn't! That means another week atleast until I can build my computer! Ugh.
Nice, I have the same Monitor as you, but the 19 Inch Version. I can't stand Wide-screens...
I love mine More tabs on Firefox!LT.Victim wrote:

Hooooooooooly Hell. I'm at my dad's now where the graphics card came, I took it out of the box to see what it looks like...it's GIGANTIC.
It's like 2x the size of my hand. Wow.
I'm seriously so pumped about building this.
Another question: Any suggestions for an LGA775 Socket mobo? I'm looking for a high end one, 180 dollar limit, 2x PCI-E 16 Slots, 2x PCI slots...

That is the one I have.. Or a version of it.. EVGA only had 1 680i board out when I bought mine, now they have several versions of the same board. I have been VERY happy with mine, and have ALWAYS been very happy with EVGA's customer service. They are great. Register it with them when you get it, and they keep track of the info for you. For like $15 you can buy over-night cross shipping from them, so if you ever have a problem with your board you can have another one over-nighted to you.Poseidon wrote:

Well, I like Asus...but here's some I've been looking at
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813128047 (Gigabyte, can't go wrong)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813130081 (VERY good reviews although I've never used MSI...)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813141002 (680i, what I'm aiming for)
Here's a good ASUS Board I found.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131153 It's only 650i though. Is there really that much of a major difference between the 650i and 680i?
Also, any suggestions of boards will be greatly appreciated.
Also, MOAR TECH PR0N!!!

Can anyone tell me the difference between
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188019
&

Thanks

The more expensive one has an audio chipset and DDR2 memory which is standardised at 1200MHz.
The other one doens't.
The other one doens't.
What's DDR2 1200?
DDR2 Running at 1200MHz.
Ohhhhhh......I thought it was some crazy new RAM standard that I didn't know about

Crap. Still can't decide on a good mobo. Any suggestions (i.e. direct links from newegg)?
Here is the mobo I am going to get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188014
It has plenty of PCI, PCI E, and PCI E x 16 slots (2 of each), it supports a quad core processor and 8 gb of memory, has one of the latest chipsets (680i), and seems to have a pretty reasonable price. I DO NOT have this yet, so I cannot comment on how good of a board it really is. But it has gotten very good reviews.
I also found this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188013
I think that the main difference between these two boards is the type of memory they take. The first one takes DDR2 800 while the second takes DDR2 1200. Another difference is the FSB, which are 1066/800MHz and 1333/1066MHz respectively for the two units. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

thanks, would running ddr2 800 be fine on the more expensive one then. correct?Zimmer wrote:

They are better than nVidia and Intel ones by a long way.
Get a striker. Or a wifi one. Or the P5N32-E SLI.
All great mobos. Seriously.
Yeah, that's what I had when I had my AMD.
Now I'm down to these two:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188014
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131153
I feel like I need to flip a coin...I just don't wanna make a bad choice.

Second one wins. Badly.
Honestly, you wont make a bad choise with that board.

Alright, cool. Gonna go with that one. Thanks Zimmer.
Just one question, what's the big difference between 680i and 650i?

Can you explain why the second is better? I'm going to buy components in the next day or two and I was planning on buying the first one the OP said he was considering. I'm still pretty new to this, but from my *limited* point of view, the eVGA has a more recent chipset while the ASUS has higher fsb capabilities. That's the only real difference I see. Is the ASUS really superior on that alone or am I overlooking something?Zimmer wrote:
