In 8th grade, I was charged with plagiarism. What happened? I had written a pretty good lab report for science. My two good friends at the time asked me if they could see my report, just to have an idea of what to write. I e-mailed a copy to each, figured nothing was wrong with that.
Well, my friends were not exactly the brightest bulbs at times. And this was one of those times. One of my friends copied a few sentences from the intro paragraph; not terrible compared to the other offense. My other friend, well, he copied the entire intro paragraph. The whole fucking thing. What a dumbass!
So we all submit them, and bah. A week or so later, my science teacher asks me to come with her. We go to the principal's office, where I see my two friends. Turns out my science teacher wasn't a dumbass; she noticed that both of their reports were similar to mine. Thankfully, they were honest enough to admit they ripped off my work. I got a firm "omg u tard" from the principal (who doesn't like me at all), and it was put down onto my permanent record even though all I did was send them the file for reference purposes.
Not too bad tbh. I had gotten into a scrape a few months earlier which resulted in nothing more than a chat with the principal, and was blamed for writing very mean things about students on a blog (I never did such a thing; it was another student). Which again, resulted in just a chat with the principal and a typed apology.
