Okay, I've supported Bush.  I've voted for him twice, but now I hate him.

President Bush wrote:

"At some point in time -- sooner rather than later -- you've got to say 'Enough is enough. Kosovo is independent' and that's the position we've taken."

Serbian PM wrote:

"America must find another way to show its affection and love for the [Kosovan] Albanians, without offering them Serb territories," Kostunica told Serbian national television.

"Serbia is rightfully outraged at the American policies on the issue of Kosovo."
Congratulations President Fucking Bush on being an ignorant fucktard.

I am not Serbian but I do recognize that giving historical Serb territory to Albanians because they have multiplied their way into the majority is akin to the US giving Texas to Mexico cause they got lots of Mexicans.  How about the EU or Russia or China say something like "At some point in time -- sooner rather than later -- you've got to say "Enough is enough.  Texas is independent and that's the position we've taken".

I'm a Republican and I don't like Bush either. We need to finish up in Iraq and pull our guys out. I don't care what they're doing in Iran or Albania. In the Cold War we were able to avoid a huge nuclear catastrophe with the Russians who had sooooo much more nuclear capability than Iran, but then again, Iranians are a bit insane, whereas Russia has a brain and knows how to use it (neither one of our countries wanted war).

I was planning on voting Democrat next election, but now that I've seen the god that is Ron Paul, I'll be voting for him (hopefully he'll make it past the primaries).

From http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/commen … 917916.ece

If Texas ever palls for Bush as a retirement destination, then Albania would be his next choice. Surely no other leader would greet Bush as “the greatest and most distinguished guest we have ever had”, as did Sali Berisha, the Prime Minister, on Sunday. But Albania, not a country much inhibited by global fashion, seemed oblivious to the unpopularity of its guest elsewhere; it named a street in front of parliament after him (and a beauty salon after Laura Bush), issued three postage stamps bearing his portrait, and gave him a 21-gun salute, while the streets of Tirana were filled with people wearing precariously tall Uncle Sam top hats, chanting “Boosh-ie”.

Its 3.6 million people, most Muslim, have embraced the US’s promotion of democracy more enthusiastically than any of the US’s supposed allies in the Middle East, after 40 years of a particularly isolating interpretation of Communism under Enver Hoxha. It supported warmly the US’s intervention in Kosovo in 1999 on behalf of its ethnic Albanian majority. Some trace the passion of Albania to the aftermath of the First World War, when President Woodrow Wilson prevented it being carved up by its neighbours.
The author of this editorial seems to think that Bush is simply using the idea of Albanian Independence to assert power over Russia.

Wait, that was honestly the first thing that has made you hate Bush?! You've never heard of him doing/saying something stupid prior to this?

There is absolutely no way you can compare bunch of illegal Mexican immigrants in Texas with situation in Kosovo. Countless wars, countless genocides, countless mass deportations, countless conquerers, and a sick amount of propaganda stretching for hundreds of years that would make Fidel Castro drop his jaw, CAN NOT be compared with Mexicans in California or Texas. There are folk tales and songs on both sides that talk about mass murders, burning of villages and towns and that promote hatred towards the other side. This is true for every nation in the region. Balkan is a barrel of gunpowder.
Maybe in 500 hundred years you will be able to compare the two, but not today.

But anyway current stance of USA presidency (not just Bush) and as far as I know most European countries is not based on historical territorial rights, but the fact that with all that history and the "fresh wounds" from the recent war, independence for Kosovo seems like the only solution. It can not remain under UN administration forever.

There is a place I can think of that the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo can go. I think it's called Ambania or Algania or something...

That might be the right solution but you have to be realistic. For that to happen about 1 million Kosovars of Albanian decent would have to be forcefully removed from the region and transfered to Ambania or Algania or whatever. I doubt that UN could ever do that. Other solution would be to let the Serbs do it and that also wouldnt be a good idea and UN can definitely not do that.

So emotions aside, someone one give a feasible and serious solution that could be implemented in a todays world.

Atrocities that happened in the region are unimportant when it comes to this. It's really quite simple. The Albanians multiplied like flies and the Serbs were massively outnumbered. That does not change the fact that the region of Kosovo historically belongs to the Serbs. It is exactly like Texas and Mexicans.

Making a country out of Kosovo is not a solution. It's what the west always wanted. To destabilize the area and divide its people. Surely stability and viable conditions can be arranged for all the inhabitants of Kosovo. Only nobody wants that.

If Bush gets his way this time, next the Turks are going to claim Thrace etc... maybe even parts of Germany! lol And the UK will become India's province

I find it funny that it's gotten to the point that the general stance of Republicans now seems to be "Bush sucks".  I'd be curious to know how many people voted him in because he was a Republican rather than because they though he knew what he was doing.

Kosovo Albanians have as much right to their own state as Israel and Mexifornia and Mexas.

Just because the invasion goes very slowly doesn`t mean it is just, Kosovo is a part of Serbia and have always been so since a very long time ago.

Why's this such a suprise? It's essentially the same as what the US supported so heavily in Israel. Just with a bit less terrorism and bloodshed.

Actually neither side is contemplating the idea of partitioning Kosovo in which case the population could be "rearanged" to their part of it.
Official stance of UNMIK is "Kosovo must remain multi-ethnic and the settlement must be acceptable to the people of Kosovo. Additionally, there will be no return of Kosovo to the pre-1999 situation, no partition of Kosovo and no union of Kosovo with any other, or part of another, country."
http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/UNDOC/PRO/ … 651929.pdf

So the debate is not whether Kosovo should be a part of Serbia like any other. The Serbian goverment is not trying to push the idea of transfering the Kosovo Albanians to Ambania or Algania as Poe would say. For one they know they would never get suport for that idea and also that would be the first step in dissembling the Serb Republic in Bosnia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republika_Srpska (< take few minutes to read that)
They are offering Kosovo an autonomy withing Serbia. And that does seem like the best and fairest possible solution right ? But the international community tried that experiment in Bosnia with the creation of Serb Republic and it just doesn't work.

Usmarine - 2 million people were exchanged when hostilities ended between Greece and Turkey. Fact. That can be implemented here too. The numbers are way smaller too.
