  • CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT AUTHORIZE A DRAFT.
  • THE LOTTERY.
  • ALL PARTS OF SELECTIVE SERVICE ARE ACTIVATED.
  • PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND MORAL EVALUATION OF REGISTRANTS.
  • LOCAL AND APPEAL BOARDS ACTIVATED AND INDUCTION NOTICES SENT.
  • FIRST DRAFTEES ARE INDUCTED.

Will people who have Z-Visas be eligble for the draft?

Now what I want to know is what happens to your house?  Bills?  Lets say you are making 100k/year and you get drafted...do you loose your house because you can't make your mortgage payment?  Anyone who has been drafted during the Vietnam war know what happens?

A Z-Visa is something that the current immigration bill will grant the 12-20 million illegal immigrants in the United States the rights of citizens of the United States (to services like Medicare, Welfare, Government Housing), while not actually allowed to vote until they become a legal citizen in 8-13 years.

I'd say that their inclusion depends on how desperate the military is: their lack of language skills (among other things) hardly makes them desirable.

Can't you join the Armed Forces to become a US Citizen?

they would be taken believe you me and I'll tell you why they are already been taking them. I live in Miami and they come to the high schools and one of the promises they use it's that if you join they will get you the citizenship or at least help you with your paper work and when you sign up they go with you to INS to put your name in some sort of list.

No. You have to already be a permanent resident (that is, have a green card) to be able to enlist, and all it does is shorten the wait for citizenship eligibility from 5 to 3 years

There is a provision though that states something to the effect of being eligible for citizenship immediately if you are an alien that has served in the US armed forces during a time of war. Scenarios like that would have to be quite rare, but it must have happened. My guess is that a lot of Filipinos qualified for this after WWII.
