I expect anyone who is 1st Sgt. or above to be competent at all aspects of the game.
Tough call, because you have your average player, gamer, and finally the n00b. Each of em has a learning curve and it make take time for the average player to equal the typical gamer, but the true n00b....the amount of time and experince is stagnant, so making the next rank will not guarantee a smart player.

I've gotten to the point where I use choppers and even the occasional jet to fly TO a destination then Bail-out to get a flag. To the poster who said a 1st Sgt should be proficient in all aspect of the game, I disagree. If someone such as myself has ZERO flying experience in any game learning to fly is difficult.

It's like driving a tank. Anyone can drive a tank. Using a tank effectively is a different matter.
I can't fly effectively. Therefore I don't fly (though, I must admit, I too have occasionally jumped in a chopper/jet and then bailed over a distant flag on the odd occasion).
That doesn't make me a noob. Quite the opposite in fact.

at seargent i think they have the hang of the game, realize that they will not survive being run over by a humvee, dont try and revive enemies, and dont charge tanks with knices. (usually)

I was a right noob up until Sargeant. Tk's, force tks, vehicle stealing, camping, vehicle ramming, jeep jihadding. You name it, I did it, but one day I just 'mellowed' out, and played fair. I still play fair now, but have the odd day of 'rogue noob' in me. The pre 1.2 days were good days.
