Nobody. The only reason why Russia got the nuke was because they had spies. If there was nothing to spy about...well...you get my point.
Probably nobody, the russians would never have known about it, and We have had no other reason to drop it.

I was thinking about just saying no one else would have, but then I started thinking and it might be a little more complicated than that. If Truman hadn't used the atomic bomb, the U.S. would have had to spend many years conquering all of Japan and completely destroying their military because they wouldn't have surrendered otherwise. The toll this could have left on the U.S. military and economy could have left them vulnerable and since Germany probably still would have been divided in a similar manner, the Cold War would still have started, but Russia would not have feared the U.S. the way they had and possibly attacked. Maybe they would have been strong enough to simply overwhelm American forces or maybe they would have used the nuke. Or maybe when they attacked, the U.S. would have counterstriked with a nuke and then the Russians launch one back...nuclear winter. So, its possible that if Truman hadn't used the atomic bomb we could all be dead or we could all be Communist.

Yes. I remember something about Germany having "heavy water". Can't recall the name of the spot where they were developing it. Seems like it was in Norway if I recall correctly. A couple more years added to WW2 and I think we'd have been worrying about German atomic bombs.Braddock wrote:

Yep it was Telemark (I think) in Norway, but the plant was crippled by Norwegian resistance fighters (I think again) which hindered their research.Stingray24 wrote:

Whatever war that was after WW2 that involved someone with a nuke. Would've been a shiny new toy that had never been used in combat. Nobody would be scared of them if they never saw how it was outside of testing in some backwards desert.

Well the Harrier was a British plane, but the US was first to implement it, without the US acquiring the plane its unlikely it would be in service today.venom6 wrote:
