Do you realize that, if a Republican had been president then, we would have probably taken over Cuba and likely started WW3 as a result? During the crisis the navy was begging to invade an island with nuclear artiliery and a leader who, while he did not have permission to use these weapons, may have easily been intimidated enough to use them. If not for the firm foot JFK put down, the navy may well have lost many a good man in the second event of nuclear warfare known to man. Who knows what may have followed.
