This has been fixed a long time ago - you need to have it on the same screen for 5 hours+ to get this. I really hope you are not stupid enough to leave your TV on the same screen for 5 hours.r2zoo wrote:
Well LCDs you liquid crystals lit by a backlight in orderto light them(which do need to be replaced eventully) and Plasmas genrally arent good for gaming due to the fact they can burn images into the screen if left on for a long while on the screen(I.E A corner map, or health gauge, etc)
I personally own niether, have you considered a rear projection? My 57" Samsung is pretty nice, just dont go for DLP not worth it.
LCD for your situation. LCD doesn't produce blacks as dark as plasma does, but it doesn't burn in, either.
Get a Vizio for the best bang for your buck. That's what my family has and it looks great.

That's the 37" we have, but here is one that looks pretty good and is the size you want.

Tough call.

As far as i know Vizio isn't a sub company of Samsung they just use Samsung manufacturered LCD pannels (I think theres only like 4 or 5 panel manufacurers in the world, Samsung being one of if not the biggest). The Vizio you linked earlier looks like it uses the pannels from the Samsung range before the one I own (i.e. like 18 months-2 years ago).
The thing about plasma screens are bad for video games are total BS,Samsung has even developed togheter with xbox360 a game mode.At least I have that on my TV.majorassult wrote:
Right, so I have decided I need a better entertainment center. I will use the TV for Xbox360, regular TV (obviously) and watching movies. So could someone please explain the difference between LCD and Plasma TVs and which one would be better?
What I want
-Able to play Xbox360 (I think I read somewhere plasma is bad for video games...is this true?)
-Around 42 or 46 inches
-Big viewing radius (We have rap-around couches and I want to be able to see the TV from all different angles)
-I'm not really concerned about price
So could someone suggest some brands to look out for? I think Samsung is supposed to be good?
Thanks.
LMAO!!! so true!!!!!!!!!!The#1Spot wrote:

The image quality on the Sony XBRs is amazing. If you buy a big 1080p TV, you want amazing quality, that's the whole point. Personally I think the lower end LCDs tend to be better value - Hanspree do some great ones for virtually nothing.haffeysucks wrote:

The XBR is the best. If you want pure quality, get that.
TMo is very right about Vizio not being a sub-company of Samsung. They use Samsung panels, but they are not the latest and best - it's not like Matsushita and Panasonic.
