Just like the subject says, my game's splash screen comes up but the game doesn't load if I patch to 1.41. I've tried reinstalls and everything. I know this because when I did a fresh install with no patch it would launch and as soon as I patch the splash screen with the tank on Karkand comes up but doesn't load. I have no idea what the problem is. +K to whoever can help.

Go to \EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Profiles and delete settings.con, I think that fixes it.

Edit: Might also explode your computer or do nothing.

I'll try it, thanks. +K
I don't even have a settings.con, lol.

It's so wierd. From a fresh install, I can run the game pre-patched, but if I patch to 1.41 the splash screen comes up but the game doesn't launch after.

assuming you played (or even opened)  the pre-patched game BEFORE even trying to install 1.41...

1) delete folders in C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
2) delete C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\Video.con

It's probably not this but my girlfriend had problems with her bf2 on her computer. The game worked when it wasn't patched but as soon the patch was installed it did not work.
It started loading and after 62% of a map the entire game crashed... The computer was reinstalled but still problems...

So we thought maybe some hardware is bad.
Went down to the basement...did some archeology and found my old 17" CRT.

As soon as the new flat screen was replaced the entire game worked!
No problems at all...except a stone age CRT on the desk

Maybe not the same problem as you but try different hardware if you have the possibility!
Good Luck!
