Most Religions have a message of peace and they teach to love and respect other people. Let's take the three Abrahamic Religions. Two of them even share the same book, The Old Testament. The Qu'ran itself quotes a lot of things from the Bible, and Jesus is one of the three most important characters for Islam. This talks about common origins.
Do Religions fail? Or is mankind which fails to act accordingly to the teachings of any religion? I personally don't follow any religion, but I respect people who do. But, how many people really follow these teachings? How many of them respect other people? How Many Religious People Live by "the rules" and honor their Faith? Are Religions the ones to blame for the never ending conflicts between Arabs and Jews? Is Christianism the one to blame for the ethnic cleansing of native Americans (not only in the US, but also Aztecs, Mayas, Incas, etc)? Or do men use religions as an excuse to commit these crimes?
